    Introduction About UNIFEN MR TABLET

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is a combination of Diclofenac, Methocarbamol, and Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory agents, Skeletal Muscle Relaxants and Analgesics & Antipyretics respectively. It is used to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and muscle spasm associated with conditions affecting the joints, muscles and tendons like sprains, strains and backache, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, dental or minor surgery and other injuries.

    Arthritis is the tenderness or swelling of one or more joints characterized by pain, stiffness, and reduced movements.

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, liver, kidney, and heart. Consult your doctor for advice.

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in woman who are pregnant, and it should be used with caution in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor for advice.

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age and it should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor for advice.

    The most common side effects of taking UNIFEN MR TABLET are stomach pain, indigestion, heart burn and vomiting. Consult your doctor if the symptoms does not improve.

    Uses Of UNIFEN MR TABLET

    Used to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and muscle spasm associated with conditions such as:

    • joints, muscles
    • tendons like sprains, strains
    • backache
    • rheumatoid arthritis
    • osteoarthritis
    • ankylosing spondylitis
    • dental or minor surgery and
    • other injuries

    How UNIFEN MR TABLET Works

    [GBKEYWORD] act as a painkiller and muscle relaxant where Diclofenac and Paracetamol works by reducing the effects of prostaglandin (substance produced during injury and inflammation causing pain) thereby blocking the pain signals between the brain and nerve endings. Methocarbamol blocks the effects of acetylcholine (neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction.

    How to use UNIFEN MR TABLET

    Take UNIFEN MR TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow this medicine with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of UNIFEN MR TABLET

    Common

    • stomach pain
    • loss of appetite
    • indigestion
    • vomiting, nausea
    • heartburn, pain
    • dizziness
    • headache
    • spots or skin rash

    Uncommon

    • fast or irregular heartbeat
    • chest pain

    Rare

    • stomach ulcers or bleeding
    • gastritis
    • vomiting blood
    • diarrhoea with blood
    • tiredness, drowsiness
    • symptoms of fluid retention like swollen ankles
    • signs of asthma include coughing, chest tightness, wheezing

    Stop taking UNIFEN MR TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • sudden and crushing chest pain
    • signs of heart failure like breathlessness, difficulty in breathing when lying down, swelling of hands and feet
    • signs of stroke include sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg especially on one side of the body, sudden loss or disturbance of vision, difficulty in speaking or ability to understand speech, sudden migraine-like headaches
    • signs of bleeding in the stomach or intestine when emptying your bowels, blood in vomit or black, tarry faeces
    • skin rash, itching, bruising painful red areas, peeling or blistering
    • wheezing or shortness of breath (bronchospasm)
    • yellowing of skin or the whites of your eyes
    • persistent sore throat or high temperature (fever)
    • change in the amount of urine produced and/or its appearance
    • mild cramping and tenderness of the abdomen
    • Stevens Johnson Syndrome (serious illness with blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes, and genitals)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or Vomiting:

    Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals and try to avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Take liquid drink slowly in between meals. Consult your doctor.

    Diarrhoea:

    Drinking lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice helps to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medication on your own without physician consultation.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Discuss with your doctor if the symptoms is not improving.

    Flatulence:

    Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly, and exercise regularly. If the symptom does not improve. Contact your doctor for advice.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.

    Pregnancy

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in woman who are pregnant. Consult your doctor before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET.

    Breastfeeding

    UNIFEN MR TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor for advice before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or handle any machines while taking UNIFEN MR TABLET, since it may cause dizziness, tiredness, and sleepiness.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking UNIFEN MR TABLET because it can aggravate the side effects.

    Kidney

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having kidney failure. Consult your doctor before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET.

    Liver

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having liver failure. Consult your doctor before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET.

    Allergy

    Do not take UNIFEN MR TABLET if you are allergic to Diclofenac, Methocarbamol, and Paracetamol or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, seasonal allergic rhinitis, swelling of the nasal mucosa (nasal polyps), chronic pulmonary diseases or infections of the respiratory tract. Consult your doctor before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET.

    Heart Disease

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having stablished heart disease and/or cerebrovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, mini stroke (TIA) or blockages to blood vessels to the heart or operation to clear or bypass blockages. It should be used with caution in patients having angina, blood clots, and high blood pressure. Consult your doctor before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET.

    Others

    UNIFEN MR TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

    • stomach or duodenal (peptic) ulcer
    • bleeding in the digestive tract which may cause blood in vomit, bleeding when emptying bowels, fresh blood in faeces or black, tarry faeces
    • problems with your blood circulation (peripheral arterial disease)

    Before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:

    • stomach or bowel disorders including ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease
    • porphyria or bleeding disorders
    • high cholesterol or raised triglycerides
    • diabetes
    • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Use in pediatrics:

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking UNIFEN MR TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. metformin, glibenclamide)
    • blood thinning agents (Ex. warfarin)
    • furosemide, bumetanide (medicine used to manage edema)
    • lithium (medicine used to manage mental problems)
    • methotrexate (medicine used for management of some inflammatory diseases and some cancers)
    • ciclosporin and tacrolimus (medicine used to manage some inflammatory diseases and after transplants)
    • trimethoprim (medicine used to manage or manage urinary tract infections)
    • levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin (medicines used for infections)
    • NSAID or COX-2 like aspirin or ibuprofen (medicines used to as painkillers)
    • mifepristone (medicine used to terminate pregnancy)
    • digoxin (used to manage heart problems)
    • citalopram, fluoxetine (medicines used to manage depression)
    • steroids like prednisolone (medicine used as an anti-inflammatory agent)
    • medicines used to manage heart conditions or high blood pressure (Ex. telmisartan, enalapril)
    • voriconazole (medicine used to manage fungal infections)
    • phenytoin (medicine used to manage seizures or fits)
