INTRODUCTION

TRANOSTAT 500MG contains Tranexamic acid which belongs to a group of medicines called anti-fibrinolytic agents, which is used to stop or reduce unwanted bleeding. It is used to prevent and treat bleeding due to a process that inhibits blood clotting in conditions such as heavy periods in women, gastrointestinal bleeding, haemorrhagic urinary disorders after having an operation on prostate gland or urinary tract, after having an operation on ear, nose or throat, after having heart, abdominal or gynecological surgery and bleeding after you have been treated with another medicine to break down blood clots.

Blood clots are formed by a protein called fibrin. There are enzymes in your body that break down fibrin which makes blood clots do not stay in place. This process is called "fibrinolysis". TRANOSTAT 500MG is an anti-fibrinolytic which helps prevent fibrinolysis by stopping the fibrin from being broken down. This prevents the breakdown of blood clots and helps them to stay in place where they are needed (excessive bleeding during periods, or after surgery).

TRANOSTAT 500MG should be only given by a doctor or nurse. Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. It is recommended to use in children above one year of age. The common side effects are diarrhoea and stomach pain.
