    Introduction About STABLON TABLET

    STABLON TABLET contains Tianeptine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidepressants. It is used to manage neurotic or reactive states of depression, anxiodepressive states with complaints such as digestive problems and anxio-depressive states observed in the alcoholic undergoing detoxification.

    Depression is a mental disorder characterized by persistent sadness and a lack of interest or pleasure in previously rewarding or enjoyable activities. It can also disturb sleep and appetite.

    Before taking STABLON TABLET inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver disease. STABLON TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy and breast-feeding women.

    It should not be given to children and adolescents below 15 years of age. STABLON TABLET should be used with caution in patients who have to undergo any kind of surgery. It should be used with caution in elderly patients above 70 years of age.

    The most common side effects of taking STABLON TABLET are loss of appetite, insomnia, somnolence, nausea, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness and nightmares etc. Consult with your doctor if any of these above side effects worsens or doesn’t improve.

    How STABLON TABLET Works

    STABLON TABLET helps in management of depression by acting on the central nervous system. It increases the levels of certain chemical messengers (serotonin) in the brain which alleviates the mood and helps in decreasing anxiety and depression.

    How to use STABLON TABLET

    Take STABLON TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

    Your physician will decide the correct dose and duration of STABLON TABLET for you depending upon your age, disease condition and body weight.

    Side Effects Of STABLON TABLET

    Common

    • loss of appetite
    • nightmares
    • insomnia, somnolence
    • dizziness, headache, malaise, tremors
    • stomach ache, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, constipation, flatulence
    • palpitations, chest pain
    • hot flushes, difficulty in breathing
    • muscle pain or lower-back pain
    • tiredness
    • lump feeling in throat

    Uncommon

    • skin rash, itching, urticaria
    • drug abuse and dependence (patients less than 50 years with a history of drug or alcohol dependence)

    Rare

    Stop taking and contact your doctor immediately if you experience:

    • suicidal or self-harming thoughts

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea:

    Take STABLON TABLET with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. If the nausea does not improve, consult with your doctor.

    Vomiting:

    Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily, or sweet foods. If the vomiting does not improve, consult with your doctor.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slow or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the stomach pain does not improve, consult with your doctor.

    Headache:

    Try to take rest and do not involve yourself in exertive activities. Apply a pain-relieving balm on your forehead. If the headache does not improve, consult with your doctor.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as vegetables, fresh fruits, and cereals and drink plenty of water while taking STABLON TABLET. Exercise more regularly. If the constipation does not improve, consult with your doctor.

    Flatulence:

    Eat small meals but take frequently. Eat and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if flatulence persists.

    Itchy skin:

    Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if itching worsens.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    STABLON TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Breastfeeding

    STABLON TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy and decreased alertness after taking STABLON TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Avoid alcohol consumption while taking STABLON TABLET.

    Kidney

    STABLON TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Liver

    STABLON TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Allergy

    Do not take STABLON TABLET if you are allergic to Tianeptine or to any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    STABLON TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have rare inherited diseases such as fructose intolerance, glucose and galactose malabsorption syndrome and sucrase-isomaltase deficiency

    Before taking STABLON TABLET inform your doctor if you:

    • have to undergo a surgery which requires general anaesthesia

    Use in paediatrics:

    STABLON TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 15 years of age. Consult with your doctor.

    Use in geriatrics:

    STABLON TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 70 years of age. Consult with your doctor before taking.

    Interactions

    A. Drug–Drug Interaction:

    Before taking STABLON TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and mianserin (used to manage depression)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of STABLON TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage include alertness disorders.

    Does STABLON TABLET affects the ability to drive?
