What PIRITON U 2MG is used for?

It can be used to treat the itchiness, redness, swelling, rashes, tenderness and irritation that can be caused by:

  • hay fever and other allergies(e.g. pet, house dust mite and mould spore allergies)
  • nettle rash and hives
  • skin allergies and dermatitis
  • prickly heat and heat rash
  • reactions to food, food additives or medicines
  • insect bites and stings
  • the itchy rash of chickenpox

Talk to your Doctor if you:

  • are allergic to Chlorpheniramine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have very high blood pressure
  • have heart disease
  • have epilepsy
  • have glaucoma
  • have enlarged prostate
  • have liver or kidney disease
  • have bronchitis
  • have asthma or bronchiectasis
  • are alcoholic
  • If you are pregnant, or breastfeeding think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 months
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if the medicine makes you feel drowsy, dizzy or if you experience blurred vision

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (used for depression)
  • phenytoin (used for epilepsy)
  • medicines for anxiety, insomnia
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • shake well before use

If you take more PIRITON U 2MG

  • If you take too much, Contact your doctor or go to a nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take PIRITON U 2MG

  • If you forget to take a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time to take the next one. Never take two doses together

If you stop taking PIRITON U 2MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • allergic reactions such as raised and itchy skin, swelling of the face or mouth
  • difficulty in breathing
  • liver problems
  • anemia or unexplained bleeding or bruising
  • difficulty passing water
  • collapse
  • drowsiness
  • difficulty concentrating, feeling tired, dizziness, headache or blurred vision
  • loss of appetite, indigestion, feeling or being sick, diarrhoea, abdominal pain or dry mouth
  • low blood pressure (you may feel faint) or changes in heart rhythm
  • chest tightness or thickening of phlegm
  • skin peeling, itchy rash and sensitivity to the sun
  • ringing in the ears
  • twitching, muscular weakness and abnormal co-ordination
  • confusion, excitability, irritability, low mood or nightmares
