Introduction About OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION
OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION is used in the management of acromegaly (a condition where body produces more amount of growth hormones), certain types of tumours of gastrointestinal tract (such as carcinoid tumours, VIPomas, glucagonomas, gastrinomas, insulinomas), pituitary tumours that produce too much thyroid-stimulating hormone when other types of treatment (surgery or radiotherapy) are not working and other pituitary hormone imbalances.
It can also be used to reduce complications like abscess in abdomen and inflammation following surgery of the pancreas and to stop bleeding from ruptured gastro-oesophageal varices in patients suffering from cirrhosis (chronic liver disease).
Octreotide mimics somatostatin, controlling the release of growth hormone, insulin, and gut hormones by binding to specific receptors. It reduces intestinal fluid secretion, slows gut movement, and tightens abdominal blood vessels, making it effective for managing acromegaly, hormone-secreting tumors, and certain bleeding conditions.
OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION should be used under medical supervision. During therapy with OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION, your doctor will periodically monitor your gall bladder, heart rate, liver functions, thyroid functions, pancreas function and vitamin B12 levels as a precaution.
Before receiving OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have gall stones, diabetes or low blood sugar levels as a precaution. The most common side effects of receiving OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION are gall stone formation and inflammation, diabetes, low blood sugar levels, irregular heartbeat, underactive thyroid, headache, dizziness, gastric problems, tiredness, weakness, dark urine and feces, pain at injection site. Consult your doctor if they trouble you.
Also, inform your doctor immediately if you experience fever, yellowing of skin and whites of eyes, chills, stomach pain, sudden pain of upper abdomen with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or light-coloured urine after receiving OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION.

How OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION Works
OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION contains Octreotide works by mimicking a natural hormone called somatostatin, which helps control the release of several other hormones in the body. It attaches to specific receptors on cells, mainly in the digestive system and hormone-producing glands, and slows down the release of growth hormone, insulin, and certain gut hormones. It also reduces fluid secretion in the intestines and slows down gut movement. Additionally, it tightens blood vessels in the abdomen, which helps reduce bleeding in certain conditions. These effects make octreotide useful for managing acromegaly, and other problems caused due to excessive growth hormone, hormone-secreting tumors, and certain types of bleeding.
How to use OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION
OCTRIDE 100MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into your vein as an intravenous infusion. Alternatively, it can also be self-administered beneath the skin, if advised by your physician.

How To Manage Side Effects

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
To manage dizziness at home, sit or lie down immediately to prevent falls, and avoid sudden movements or standing up quickly. Stay hydrated by drinking water, as dehydration can cause or worsen dizziness. Focus on a stable object to help regain your balance, and avoid bright lights, excessive screen time, or noisy environments. Eating small, regular meals can prevent low blood sugar, which may contribute to dizziness. If dizziness is persistent, recurrent, or accompanied by other symptoms, seek medical advice.

Headache
To manage a headache at home, start by resting in a quiet, dark room and applying a cold or warm compress to your forehead or neck. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, as dehydration can worsen headaches. Practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or gentle neck and shoulder stretches can reduce tension. Limiting screen time and avoiding bright lights, loud noises, and strong smells may also help. If headaches persist or worsen, consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
