Introduction About O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS is a combination of Betamethasone and Ofloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids and Antibiotics respectively. It is used to manage inflammation and infections of the eyes and ears. It also helps in reducing pain, redness, itching and/or burning or stinging sensation in the eyes or ears following surgery. It is typically used in conditions which involves the risk of both inflammation and infection of the eyes/ears such as during injury or post-surgery.
Use this medicine exactly as instructed by your physician. Misuse or overuse of this medicine may lead to unwanted side effects. If there is no improvement in your condition even after using this medicine for 7 days, consult your doctor for advice. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
During management with O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS, your doctor will regularly monitor your eyes for intraocular pressure, cataracts and for infections as a precaution. Before using O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS inform your doctor if you have severe viral or fungal ear/eye infections. You must also inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, perforations (holes) in the ear drum, tuberculosis, dry eyes or damaged skin or wounds around the areas of application.
Do not use O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of using O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS are temporary burning sensation and blurring of vision, headache, dizziness, slowing growth and taste changes. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

How O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS Works
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS contains two medicines namely, Betamethasone and Ofloxacin. Betamethasone is a steroid medication. It blocks the release of certain chemicals in the body (such as prostaglandins) that causes inflammation, redness and swelling. When applied topically on the eyes or ears, it reduces redness, soreness, pain, itching and swelling.
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. When applied topically on the eyes or ears, it kills the susceptible bacteria that causes infection. Collectively, this medicine reduces inflammation and infection of the eyes and ears.
How to use O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS
Use O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for topical use only.
For Eyes: Tilt your head slightly backwards and gently pull your lower eyelid. Instil few drops of this medicine into the eyes and close your eyes for 2 minutes. Repeat the same for the other eye if required. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion.
For Ears: Gently instil few drops of this medicine into the ears. Repeat the same for the other ear if required.
Wash your hands before and after application. Do not touch the tip of the container with your eyes, eyelids, areas around your eyes, outer surface of the ears or fingers, to avoid contamination.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and health condition. If there is no improvement in your condition even after using this medicine for 7 days, consult your doctor for advice.
Side Effects Of O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS
Common
- burning sensation following application
- eye irritation or discomfort

- changes in taste
- nose bleeds, sneezing, nasal congestion
- increased pressure in the eyes

Rare
Stop using O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, throat, tongue causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
- severe eye pain, redness, irritation and vision changes
- severe skin reactions causing skin rashes, with red-target spots or circular patches on the skin, blistering and peeling of skin with fever
How To Manage Side Effects
Burning or stinging of eyes:
Wash your eyes with plain cold water. Place an ice pack on your eye to ease the irritation. Avoid straining your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops or television. Wear protective eyeglasses while going outdoors.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Blurred vision:
Close your eyes and relax. Do not strain your eyes by looking at mobile phones, laptops, or television. Avoid driving or operating any heavy tools or machines while your vision is blur. Consult your doctor if you experience blurred vision for a prolonged period.
Warning & Precautions

Pregnancy
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

Breastfeeding
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machinery if you experience blurred vision or light-headedness after using O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS.

Allergy
Do not use O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS if you are allergic to Betamethasone or Ofloxacin.

Lungs
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS should be used with caution in patients with lung infections (such as pulmonary tuberculosis). Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

Heart Disease
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS should be used with caution in patients with heart problems such as prolonged QT interval, slow heartbeat, heart failure or history of heart attack. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.
Others
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS is not recommended for use if you:
- have severe viral or fungal eye infections
- have an eye infection that produces sticky pus
- have ulcers in the eyes
- have glaucoma
- wear soft contact lenses
- have a hole in your ear drum
Before using O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS inform your doctor if you:
- have any infection in the nose
- recently had a surgery in your nose
- have eye redness for which the cause is unknown
- have dry eyes or corneal problems
- have any eye defects
- have any ulceration on the surface of eyes
- have salt imbalance in your body
- have low potassium or magnesium levels in blood
Use in pediatrics:
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) unless prescribed by a physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before administration.
Use in geriatrics:
O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before using O FRESH DX EYE/EAR DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- medicines used to manage abnormal heart rhythm (such as quindine, hydroquindine, disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide, ibutilide)
- medicines used to manage depression (such as amitriptyline, imipramine)
- macrolide antibiotics (used to manage bacterial infections) such as erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin
- medicines used to manage psychiatric disorders (such as chlorpromazine, haloperidol, thioridazine etc.)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally used excessive amount of this medicine, rinse your eyes or ears with warm water. If still irritation persists, consult your doctor for advice. If you or anyone else accidentally swallowed this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
