NICOSTAR 2MG contains Nicorandil which belongs to a group of medicines known as potassium-channel activators which works by increasing the blood flow through the blood vessels of the heart. It is used to prevent and treat long-term chest pain (angina). Angina is a type of chest pain often described as squeezing, pressure, heaviness, tightness or pain in your chest due to reduced blood flow to the heart. NICOSTAR 2MG used to treat angina and also reduces acute coronary events in high risk stable angina patients.
It is administered under the guidance of a doctor and should not be self-administered. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure, lung or kidney problems. It is not recommended for use in children and breastfeeding women. The common side effects are headache, ulcer, dizziness and palpitations.
NICOSTAR 2MG works by increasing the blood flow through the blood vessels of the heart.
NICOSTAR 2MG will be administered by a doctor or nurse. Your doctor will decide the dose and frequency depending on your condition.
Dizziness:
Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.
Feeling sick (nausea) or indigestion:
Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.
Vomiting:
Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, greasy, or sweet foods.
NICOSTAR 2MG should be used with caution in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
NICOSTAR 2MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
NICOSTAR 2MG may cause dizziness. Do not drive or handle any machines while having this medicine.
Do not drink alcohol while receiving this medicine.
NICOSTAR 2MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
NICOSTAR 2MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.
Tell your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Nicorandil or any ingredients of this medicine.
NICOSTAR 2MG is not recommended in patients with active heart diseases. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
