INTRODUCTION

NALTIMA 50MG contains Naltrexone which belongs to the group of medicines called opioid antagonists. It is indicated in the treatment of addictive disorders such as opioid (e.g. morphine, codeine or heroin) or alcohol dependence. It can be also used as a supportive therapy in maintaining abstinence (self-denial) in alcohol-dependent patients. Naltrexone works by blocking the effects of opioid medication or alcohol in the brain, so that individuals will no longer experience the euphoria symptoms (feel of pleasure) which they previously experienced, after taking opioids. Although, this medicine helps in reducing the urge to drink alcohol, it will not decrease the effects of alcohol which you have consumed recently. Treatment with naltrexone should begin only after discontinuation of opioids for a sufficiently long period.

Treatment with NALTIMA 50MG may last for 3 months or longer according to your health condition. If you notice that the effect of NALTIMA 50MG is too weak or too strong, consult your doctor. Along with the treatment, your doctor may recommend you follow a healthy diet, get enough sleep, seek new hobbies and to manage stress levels by doing yoga or meditation. Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption while taking this medicine.

Take this medicine as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as whole with a sip of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. The most common side effects of taking this medicine are nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbances, anxiety, headache, abdominal pain, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness. Contact your doctor if any of the symptom bothers you. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and in adolescents under 18 years of age.
