MOZEP 2MG TABLET contains Pimozide, which belongs to the group of medicines called Neuroleptics. It is used in the management of illnesses affecting the way you think, feel, or behave. This illness may make you feel confused, see, hear, or feel things that are not there (hallucinations), believe things that are not true (delusions), and feel unusually suspicious (paranoia).
MOZEP 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients who have an irregular heartbeat or unusually slow heartbeat, a recent history of heart attack, or have heart failure, Parkinson’s disease, or depression. Consult your doctor before taking it.
MOZEP 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver, kidney, heart problems, fits, and thyroid problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.
MOZEP 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women, particularly during the first three months of pregnancy, unless considered by the doctor. MOZEP 2MG TABLET is also not recommended if you are a breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor before taking it.
MOZEP 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children under the age of 12 years. MOZEP 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients with dementia. Consult your doctor before taking it.

How MOZEP 2MG TABLET Works
MOZEP 2MG TABLET is a neuroleptic that acts in the brain by binding to certain receptors called dopamine D2 receptors. Thereby, decreases the abnormal excitement in the brain.
How to use MOZEP 2MG TABLET
Take MOZEP 2MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you otherwise, you should stop taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET gradually. Stopping management suddenly may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, difficulty sleeping, and sweating.
Side Effects Of MOZEP 2MG TABLET
Common
- sweating more than usual
- urinating (passing water) at night
- feeling dizzy, sleepy
- feeling agitated or restless
- feeling low or depressed
- difficulty sleeping
- feeling tired or lacking in energy
- loss of appetite
- dry mouth, vomiting, constipation
- headache
- blurred vision
- very oily skin
- need to pass water (urine) more often than usual
- erection problems in men
- weight gain
Uncommon
- no monthly period in women
- swollen face
Rare
Stop taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET and consult with your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- severe allergic reaction such as rash, hives (urticaria), severe irritation of skin
- a serious problem called ‘neuroleptic malignant syndrome’ characterized by a fast heartbeat, changing blood pressure, and sweating followed by fever, faster breathing, muscle stiffness, and loss of consciousness and may lead to coma
- fast heartbeat (tachycardia), abnormal heartbeat (arrhythmia), fluttering of heart
- jerky movements and problems such as slowness, muscle stiffness or spasm, shaking, trembling or tremors, feeling restless and stiff neck, more saliva than normal, twitching or unusual movements of the tongue, face, mouth, jaw, or throat, difficulty speaking or rolling of the eyes
- low sodium levels in the blood, which can cause tiredness and confusion, muscle twitching, fits, or coma
- symptoms of blood clots in the veins, especially in the legs (include swelling, pain, and redness in the leg), which may travel through blood vessels to the lungs, causing chest pain and difficulty breathing
How To Manage Side Effects

Constipation
Take fiber-rich foods in your diets, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grain cereals, and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly and stay active. Contact your doctor if constipation persists.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not drink alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if your dizziness does not improve.

Headache
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution) and apply a pain-relieving balm to the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if the headache does not improve.

Nausea And Vomiting
Take MOZEP 2MG TABLET, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your vomiting does not improve.

Pregnancy
Consult your doctorThe safety of MOZEP 2MG TABLET in pregnancy has not been established. Therefore, it is not recommended for use in pregnant women, particularly during the first trimester of pregnancy, unless considered by the physician.
If MOZEP 2MG TABLET is used in the last trimester (last three months of their pregnancy), shaking, muscle stiffness and/or weakness, sleepiness, agitation, breathing problems, and difficulty in feeding can occur in a newborn baby. Consult your doctor before taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET.

Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedMOZEP 2MG TABLET is not recommended if you are a breast-feeding woman, as a small amount of medicine may pass into mother’s milk. Consult your doctor before taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET.

Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionAvoid driving or using machines without consulting with your doctor, as MOZEP 2MG TABLET may affect your ability to drive or use machines.

Alcohol
ContraindicatedConsumption of alcohol is not recommended while taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET, as it may make you feel drowsy and less alert.

Kidney
Use with CautionMOZEP 2MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET.

Liver

Allergy

Heart Disease
Consult your doctorMOZEP 2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients who had an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) or unusually slow heartbeat (bradycardia), QT-prolongation (abnormal heart rhythm), or a recent history of heart attack or heart failure.
Before taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have a heart problem or anyone in your close family has died suddenly of heart problems.

Use In Pediatrics

Use In Geriatrics

Others
MOZEP 2MG TABLET is not recommended for you if you have:
- Parkinson’s disease
- depression
- less consciousness of things around you or your reactions become slower
- lower levels of minerals (electrolytes) in your blood
Before taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
- epilepsy or other problems that can cause fits (convulsions)
- problems with your thyroid gland
- non-cancerous tumour of the adrenal gland (phaeochromocytoma)
- any history of blood clots or if someone else in your family has
Interactions
A. Drug-drug interactions:
Before taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- ketoconazole, itraconazole, miconazole, and fluconazole (medicines used in the management of fungal and yeast infections)
- erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin, and troleandomycin (medicines used in the management of bacterial infections)
- indinavir, ritonavir, and saquinavir (used in the management of HIV infection)
- quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide, amiodarone, sotalol, and bretylium (used in the management of irregular heart rhythm)
- terfenadine (used to manage symptoms caused by allergies)
- cisapride (used in the management of digestive problems)
- mefloquine, quinine (used in the management of malaria)
- nefazodone, amitriptyline, maprotiline, sertraline, paroxetine, citalopram, escitalopram (medicines used in the management of depression)
- chlorpromazine, thioridazine, and sertindole (medicines used in the management of mental illness)
- sibutramine (used for weight control)
- tranquilizers (used in the management of anxiety and sleeping problems) Ex. diazepam, alprazolam
- strong painkillers (used for the management of severe pain) Ex. tramadol
- anti-epileptic drugs Ex. phenytoin, carbamazepine (used in the management of fits)
- metoclopramide (used in the management of nausea and vomiting)
- diuretics, calcium channel blockers (used in the management of high blood pressure) Ex. hydrochlorothiazide, nicardipine, nifedipine
B. Drug-food interactions:
Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking MOZEP 2MG TABLET.
Over dosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of MOZEP 2MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose of MOZEP 2MG TABLET are severe extrapyramidal reactions, hypotension or sedation, cardiac arrhythmias, a comatose state with respiratory depression.
