INTRODUCTION

MIGON contains Flunarizine, which belongs to the group of medicines called Calcium Channel blockers. It is used to treat migraine. A migraine is a recurring type of headache that causes throbbing or pulsating pain that can be moderate to severe. This generally involves one side of your head. The most common symptoms include nausea, weakness and sensitivity to light and sound.

MIGON is not recommended for patients having depressive illness or a history of recurrent depression and Parkinson’s disease. MIGON should not be taken by pregnant and breastfeeding women and children. MIGON should be used with caution by the elderly. Consult your doctor for advice.

The most common side-effects of MIGON are an increase in body weight and appetite, a blocked or runny nose, feeling low or depressed, problems with sleeping, nausea, constipation, stomach pain, muscle aches, painful breasts, menstrual problems, and feeling tired. Consult your doctor if any of your symptoms get worse or persist.

HOW MIGON WORKS

MIGON effectively helps in the treatment of migraine by prevention of narrowing of blood vessels.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take MIGON as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

COMMON

RARE

Stop taking MIGON and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side-effects:

  • numbness or tingling sensation in the hands or feet
  • buzzing, whistling, hissing, or ringing noise in the ears

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea:

Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptom gets worse or persist.

Vomiting:

Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily or sweet foods. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptom gets worse or persist.

Constipation:

Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptom gets worse or persist.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

PREGNANCY

MIGON is generally not recommended for use by pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

MIGON is generally not recommended for use by breastfeeding mothers as it may pass through the milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy after taking MIGON.

ALCOHOL

Avoid alcohol consumption while taking MIGON as it can make you feel drowsy.

ALLERGY

Do not take MIGON if you are allergic to Flunarizine.

OTHERS

MIGON is not recommended for use if you:

  • have depressive illness
  • are history of recurrent depression
  • have Parkinson’s disease

Before taking MIGON, inform your doctor if you:

  • have tiredness
  • have lactose intolerance

Use in pediatrics:

MIGON is not recommended for use by children. Consult your doctor before taking it.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug–Drug Interactions:

Before taking MIGON, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following:

  • medicines used to treat anxiety (Ex. tranquilizers)
  • oral contraceptive pills
  • medicines used to treat high blood pressure (Ex. ramipril, azilsartan, amlodipine, verapamil)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of MIGON, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
