What MENI 4MG is used for?

It is used to treat Meniere's disease – the signs of this include

  • feeling dizzy (vertigo)
  • ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • hearing loss or hearing difficulty

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to Betahistine dihydrochloride or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have a pheochromocytoma, a rare tumor of the adrenal gland
  • have a stomach ulcer (peptic ulcer)
  • have asthma
  • have nettle rash, skin rash or a cold in the nose caused by an allergy, since these symptoms may be exacerbated
  • have low blood pressure
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • MENI 4MG is not recommended for those under 18 years of age
  • MENI 4MG may make you feel dizzy, faint, extremely tired or have visual disturbances
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you are affected in this way

Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines such as 

  • anti-histamines used to treat allergies
  • monoamine-oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) used to treat depression or Parkinson's disease
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow the tablets with a glass of water
  • MENI 4MG can be taken with or without food
  • The usual dose is 24 mg to 48 mg per day

If you take more MENI 4MG

  • If you take more MENI 4MG  (an overdose), you may feel sick (nauseous), sleepy or have stomach pain
  • Talk to a doctor or go to a hospital immediately

If you forget to take MENI 4MG

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking MENI 4MG

  • Don’t stop taking MENI 4MG until your doctor tells you to stop so
Very Rare

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue or neck
  • a drop in your blood pressure
  • loss of consciousness
  • difficulty in breathing
  • nausea
  • indigestion (dyspepsia)
  • headache
  • mild stomach problems such as vomiting, stomach pain, stomach swelling (abdominal distension) and bloating
