What MAXICEF O is used for?

It is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections such as:

  • community-acquired pneumonia
  • acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
  • acute maxillary sinusitis
  • pharyngitis/tonsillitis
  • uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
  • acute bacterial otitis media in children

Talk to your Doctor, if you:

  • are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have a history of colitis
  • have renal insufficiency
  • If you are pregnant, or breastfeeding think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Your doctor will give the right dose based on your child’s age, weight and disease condition

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

  • antacids (aluminum, magnesium)
  • probenecid (used to treat gout)
  • iron supplements
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you

If you take more MAXICEF O

  • If you take more MAXICEF O, tell your doctor or go to nearest hospital casualty department immediately
  • Symptoms of overdosage are: nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, diarrhea and convulsions

If you forget to take MAXICEF O

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it after food as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose

If you stop taking MAXICEF O

  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
