What is Digoxin used for?

Digoxin is prescribed for mild-to-moderate congestive heart failure and abnormal heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation). This oral medication helps control your heart rate. It is also used to treat heart pain (angina). This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to take Digoxin?

The dosage of Digoxin prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.

Digoxin may be taken with or without food.

If your physician has instructed or directed you to take Digoxin medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, take it immediately if you remember within 12 hours. However, if you remember later, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Digoxin, seek medical attention immediately.

What are the drugs that interact with Digoxin?

  • Indomethacin
  • Isoproterenol
  • Itraconazole
  • Levothyroxine
  • Spironolactone
