INTRODUCTION

KONTUM MOUTH WASH contains Benzydamine which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used for treating pain and inflammation (redness, swelling and a feeling of heat) in the throat or mouth like mouth ulcers, sore throat, tongue or gums, discomfort associated with dentures and pain after dental surgery.

Before using KONTUM MOUTH WASH inform your doctor if you have a history of asthma. KONTUM MOUTH WASH is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for use in children 12 years of age and under. Consult your doctor if you experience any unusual side effects while using KONTUM MOUTH WASH.

USES OF KONTUM MOUTH WASH

To treat pain and inflammation like:

  • sore throat
  • sore tongue or gums
  • mouth ulcers
  • discomfort caused by dentures
  • pain after dental surgery

HOW KONTUM MOUTH WASH WORKS

KONTUM MOUTH WASH exerts an anti-inflammatory and pain relieving action by stabilizing the cellular membrane and inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis (these generate inflammatory responses like increase in the blood supply to the area of injury or infection). Thereby reducing the pain, redness and swelling in the affected area.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Use KONTUM MOUTH WASH as advised by your physician. Do not use this medicine continuously for more than 7 days, except if your doctor tells you to. It should generally be used undiluted, but if stinging occurs you can dilute it with water to reduce this effect.

Rinse the medicine around your mouth or use it as a gargle, for 20 to 30 seconds then spit it out. Do not swallow it. If you get it in your eyes accidentally, wash them immediately with cold water. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

UNCOMMON

  • a feeling of numbness in your mouth
  • stinging feeling in mouth

RARE

Stop using KONTUM MOUTH WASH and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • serious allergic reaction (hypersensitivity) (difficulty breathing, chest pain, feeling dizzy, severe itching of the skin or raised lumps on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and /or throat, and which may be potentially life-threatening)
  • tightening of the throat or chest making it difficult to breathe

PREGNANCY

KONTUM MOUTH WASH is not recommended for use in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby. Consult your doctor before using it.

BREASTFEEDING

KONTUM MOUTH WASH is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless suggested by the doctor. Consult your doctor before using it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

KONTUM MOUTH WASH has negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

ALLERGY

Do not use KONTUM MOUTH WASH if you are allergic to Benzydamine, acetylsalicylic acid, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

LUNGS

KONTUM MOUTH WASH should be used with caution in patients with a history of asthma. Consult your doctor before using it.

KONTUM MOUTH WASH is not recommended for use if you:

  • have hypersensitivity to this medicine

KONTUM MOUTH WASH is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor before using.

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of KONTUM MOUTH WASH, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, esophageal irritation, dizziness, hallucinations, agitation, anxiety and irritability.
