What KONTUM is used for?

It is used to treat:

  • sore throat, sore tongue or gums
  • mouth ulcers
  • discomfort caused by dentures
  • pain after dental surgery

Talk to your Doctor if you:

  • are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have a history of asthma
  • If you are pregnant, or breastfeeding think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 12 years of age

Tell your doctor, if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • It is for use in the throat or mouth
  • The usual dose is 15ml used every 1½ to 3 hours
  • Rinse the 15ml of mouthwash around your mouth, or use it as a gargle, for 20 to 30 seconds then spit it out
  • Do not swallow the mouthwash
  • Wash the measuring cup after use and keep is safe ready for your next dose

If you use more KONTUM

  • If you use too much or if you accidentally swallow it, contact your doctor for advice

If you forget to use KONTUM

  • If you forget to use the medicine do not worry. Use it as soon as you remember and then carry on using as before. Do not use double the amount to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop using KONTUM

  • Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • allergic reaction: red and lumpy skin rash, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, mouth, lips or eyelids, unexplained high temperature (fever) and feeling faint
  • tightening of the throat or chest making it difficult to breathe

  • itchy rash, sometimes with pale, raised areas of skin with red edges (urticaria)
