What is KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION used for?
KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION is a combination of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam which belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics. It is used to treat several bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (upper and lower), intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, meningitis, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, gonorrhea, endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease and other infections of the genital tract.
How does KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION work?
KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION contains cefoperazone and sulbactam. Cefoperazone works by stopping the formation of bacterial cell coverings, which makes the bacteria susceptible for killing. Sulbactam works by reducing bacterial resistance and enhancing the activity of cefoperazone against the bacteria. Together, they helps to treat various bacterial infections.
How KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION is administered?
KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse, either into the vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the infection.
Is KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION safe to use in patients with liver disease?
KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with severe biliary obstruction (blockage of the bile ducts) and severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice before receiving KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION.
What are the common side effects of KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION?
The most common side effects of receiving KEPHAZON S 2GM INJECTION are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and coagulopathy (impairment in the blood's ability to clot). Inform your doctor if any of these side effects bothers you.
