Introduction About INFEN P TABLET
INFEN P TABLET is a combination of Dexketoprofen and Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and Analgesics and Antipyretics respectively. It is used to manage mild to moderate pain such as headaches, muscular aches, backaches, painful periods (dysmenorrhea), and toothache.
Pain is not a disease, but a symptom generated by the nervous system, causing uncomfortable sensations in the body. Pain may be dull or sharp, it might be continuous or may come and go. The acceptance level of pain might vary from person to person. Pain can be categorized into generalized (overall body aches) or localized (affecting a specific area of the body).
Avoid smoking while taking INFEN P TABLET as it may increase the side effects. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.
Before taking INFEN P TABLET, inform your doctor if you have asthma or have suffered attacks of asthma, acute allergic rhinitis, peptic ulcer/stomach or bowel bleeding, chronic digestive problems, heart problem, kidney problems, liver problems or a blood clotting disorder.
INFEN P TABLET is not recommended for use among pregnant and breastfeeding women. INFEN P TABLET is not recommended in children and adolescents. INFEN P TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age.
The most common side effect of this medicine is nausea and/or vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and digestive problems (dyspepsia). Consult your doctor for advice if the side effects worsen.

It is used to manage mild to moderate pain such as:
- headache
- muscular ache
- backache
- painful periods (in women)
- toothache
How INFEN P TABLET Works
INFEN P TABLET contains Dexketoprofen and Paracetamol. Dexketoprofen works by blocking the action of a cyclo-oxygenase in the body which is involved in the production of chemicals (prostaglandins) in the body. Paracetamol is an analgesic-antipyretic that relieves pain by elevation of the pain threshold and reducing fever by acting on the heat-regulating center in your brain. Both together, dexketoprofen and paracetamol thus reduce inflammation and pain.
How to use INFEN P TABLET
Take INFEN P TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine whole and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will give the right dose depends on your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor for advice.
Diarrhoea:
Drink more fluids like water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own for diarrhoea without consulting your doctor.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have lesser and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor for advice.
Constipation:
Eat more foods which fibre-rich such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.

Pregnancy
INFEN P TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking INFEN P TABLET.

Breastfeeding
INFEN P TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking INFEN P TABLET.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizziness or drowsiness after taking INFEN P TABLET.

Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking INFEN P TABLET. Consult your doctor for advice.

Kidney
INFEN P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to serious kidney problems and it should be used with caution in patients who have mild kidney problems. Consult your physician before taking it.

Liver

Allergy
Do not take if you are allergic to Dexketoprofen, Paracetamol or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
INFEN P TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
- asthma
- peptic ulcer/stomach or bowel bleeding or suffered in the past from stomach or bowel bleeding
- chronic digestive problems
- Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
- blood clotting or bleeding disorder
Before taking INFEN P TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
- mixed connective tissue disease or systemic lupus erythematosus (immune system disorders that affect connective tissue)
- disorder in the development of blood and blood cells
- an infection
- diabetes
- or had previous stroke
Use in pediatrics:
INFEN P TABLET is not suitable for use in children and adolescents. Consult your physician before taking INFEN P TABLET.
Use in geriatrics:
In elderly patients INFEN P TABLET should be used with caution. Consult your physician for advice before taking INFEN P TABLET.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking INFEN P TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- other anti-inflammatory drugs (Ex. acetylsalicylic acid and corticosteroids)
- medicines used to manage blood clots (Ex. warfarin and heparin)
- medicine used to manage certain mood disorders (Ex. lithium)
- medicine used to manage cancer or immunosuppressant (Ex. methotrexate, tenofovir, deferasirox, pemetrexed)
- medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex. hydantoins and phenytoin)
- medicine used for bacterial infections (Ex. sulphamethoxazole, aminoglycosides antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin)
- medicine used in combination for high blood pressure and heart problems (Ex. losartan, telmisartan)
- medicine used in combination to manage chronic venous ulcers (Ex. pentoxifylline and oxpentifylline)
- medicine used to manage viral infections (Ex. zidovudine)
- medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. chlorpropamide and glibenclamide)
- medicines used to manage immune system diseases and in organ transplants (Ex. cyclosporin or tacrolimus)
- medicines used to break up blood clots, reduce platelet aggregation and the formation of blood clots (Ex. streptokinase and other fibrinolytic or thrombolytic medicines)
- medicine used to manage gout (Ex. probenecid)
- medicine used to manage chronic heart failure (Ex. digoxin)
- medicine used as an abortifacient (Ex. mifepristone)
- medicine used to manage high blood pressure and heart problems (Ex. beta-blockers)

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of INFEN P TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
