    Introduction About GRISOCON 500 TABLET

    GRISOCON 500 TABLET contains Griseofulvin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-fungal drugs. It is used to manage fungal infections of the skin, scalp, hair, groin, feet, or nails where topical therapy is not suitable or has failed to manage the condition.

    Avoid drinking alcohol while receiving GRISOCON 500 TABLET management. Before taking GRISOCON 500 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have skin, liver, or kidney problems or porphyria (which results from an increase in certain chemicals related to red blood cell proteins).

    GRISOCON 500 TABLET is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women; therefore, consult your doctor before taking it. The most common side effects of taking GRISOCON 500 TABLET are headache, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, or stomach discomfort. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

    How GRISOCON 500 TABLET Works

    GRISOCON 500 TABLET inhibits the growth of fungi by binding to a part of the fungus causing the infection in the body. This stops the fungus from multiplying. It also manages fungus from spreading to new cells. These actions cause the fungal infection to shed completely.

    How to use GRISOCON 500 TABLET

    Take GRISOCON 500 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of GRISOCON 500 TABLET

    Common

    • headache
    • diarrhoea
    • nausea, vomiting
    • stomach discomfort

    Uncommon

    • absence of coordination, confusion, dizziness, drowsiness, sleeplessness, irritability, tingling and numbness in fingers and toes
    • lack of appetite, changes in taste sensation
    • blistering and peeling of the skin, lumpy skin (with or without an oozing liquid), redness and burning of the skin

    Rare

    • decrease in certain types of blood cells (increased minor infections, sore throat, tiredness, weakness)
    • painful, swollen skin, and joints, butterfly rash, severe skin reactions (red, raised, itchy and painful skin rash)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea:

    Get plenty of fresh air. Have ginger or peppermint tea. Eat foods having ginger (Ex. ginger biscuits). Eat smaller meals more frequently and slowly. Avoid strong-smelling, hot, fried or greasy food. Avoid large drinks with meals. Do not lie down immediately after eating. Avoid wearing clothes that are tight around your waist or tummy.

    Vomiting:

    Get adequate rest. Drink sufficient fluids to keep yourself hydrated. Have small sips if you feel sick. Eat little when you feel hungry. Do not take any medicine for vomiting without asking your doctor.

    Headache:

    Drink an ample amount of water. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress-free. Ask your doctor before taking any medicine for headaches. Consult your doctor if your symptom gets worse or persist.

    Diarrhoea:

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor if your symptom gets worse or persist.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals more frequently. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Pregnancy

    Do not take GRISOCON 500 TABLET if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. Consult your doctor immediately if you are taking GRISOCON 500 TABLET and you get pregnant.

    Breastfeeding

    GRISOCON 500 TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines after taking GRISOCON 500 TABLET as it may cause drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, and lack of coordination.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking GRISOCON 500 TABLET as it may make alcohol affect you more (nausea, vomiting, blush, irregular heartbeat, chest pain or abdominal pain).

    Liver

    GRISOCON 500 TABLET is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. It should be used with caution if you have liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Do not take GRISOCON 500 TABLET if you are allergic to Griseofulvin.

    Others

    GRISOCON 500 TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have a rare disease called porphyria
    • have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (a rare painful skin and tissue disease)

    • are a man, planning for baby
    • feel that your skin is getting easily affected due to sunlight or ultraviolet (UV) light

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking GRISOCON 500 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • ciclosporin (used after organ transplantation to manage organ rejection)
    • medicines used to thin your blood (Ex. warfarin, clopidogrel)
    • methadone (used to manage addiction or pain)
    • oral contraceptives (Ex. Ethinyl estradiol, norethindrone)
    • medicines used to manage fits (Ex. phenobarbital, primidone)
    • phenyl butazone (used to manage pain or inflammation)
    • doxecalciferol (a vitamin D supplement)
    • medicines for sedation, or relief of anxiety (Ex. alprazolam, diazepam)
    • medicines used to manage infections (Ex. penicillin, cephalosporins)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of GRISOCON 500 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
