GIT 50MG contains itopride which belongs to gastroprokinetic agents. Prokinetic agents are medications that help control acid reflux. It causes the contents of the stomach to empty faster which allows less time for acid reflux to occur by strengthening the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). It improves the motility (automatic bowel and stomach movements, which are necessary to pass the food through digestive tract) and prevent from the nausea and vomiting.
It is used to treat the symptoms caused by delayed gastric emptying, such as gastric fullness, painful pressure in upper abdomen (epigastrium), loss of appetite, heartburn, nausea and vomiting (not caused by ulcer or organ disease), affecting the movement of food through digestive tract. Always take this medicine as directed by physician. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of therapy depending upon your age, weight and condition. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water.
GIT 50MG is not recommended for the use in children and adolescents under 18 years. Do not take this medicine, if you are in condition, fasten gastric emptying can be dangerous, such as bleeding from the digestive tract. This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Tell your doctor, if you are taking or taken or might take any other medicines. The most common side effects include dizziness, sleepiness, diarrhoea and tiredness.
