INTRODUCTION

FORMOST 200 INHALER is a fixed-dose combination of formoterol and mometasone which belongs to the group of medicines called anti-asthmatics. It is used in the management and prevention of asthma and its symptoms. Asthma is a condition which causes swelling and narrowing of the airways resulting in breathing difficulty, extra mucus secretion, breathing difficulty, whistling sound (wheezing) when you breathe out and shortness of breath.

FORMOST 200 INHALER is not recommended for patients with acute asthma. FORMOST 200 INHALER should be used with caution in patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorder, epilepsy, urinary retention, and narrow-angle glaucoma.

FORMOST 200 INHALER is an anti-asthmatic medicine that works by treating breathing difficulty. It has two medicines namely formoterol and mometasone. Formoterol is a bronchodilator which actively produces relaxation to the smooth muscles in the airway preventing tightening of smooth muscles and breathing difficulty.

The tightening of the airway muscles causes symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath if left untreated it can even cause death. Mometasone a corticosteroid works to reduce inflammation. FORMOST 200 INHALER thus works collectively by reducing inflammation and constriction of smooth muscles relieving symptoms of asthma (wheezing, shortness of breath).

Dizziness Or Drowsiness

Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Headache

Take some rest, in a quiet place avoid using user mobile phones and other electronic devices for a while. Drink enough amount of Water, dehydration may lead you to develop a headache. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

Nausea And Vomiting

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking FORMOST 200 INHALER, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

• medicines used to treat high blood pressure also known as beta-blockers Ex. propranolol, metoprolol, atenolol including eye drops Ex. timolol
• medicines used to treat fluid accumulation by increasing urine secretion Ex. furosemide, spironolactone
• medicines used to treat depression Ex selegiline, phenelzine, amitriptyline, imipramine
• other medicines used to treat breathing difficulty Ex. theophylline
• medicines used to treat viral infections and medicines enhancing their activity Ex. ritonavir, cobicistat
• medicines used to treat bacterial infection Ex. erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin
• medicines used to treat uneven heartbeat and parkinson’s disease Ex. Disopyramide, procainamide, phenothiazines, quinidine
• terfenadine and astemizole (medicines used to treat allergies)
• medicines used to treat fungal infections Ex. Ketoconazole, itraconazole
• medicines used to treat inflammation Ex. prednisolone, budesonide
• halothane (used as anaesthesia before surgery)
• aspirin (used to treat blood clots)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took more of FORMOST 200 INHALER, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include seizures, chest pain, changes in blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, nervousness, headache, tremor, dry mouth, palpitations, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, tiredness, and sleeplessness. Hypokalaemia, cardiac arrest, adrenal suppression and even death can occur.
