    Introduction About ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET contains Etodolac which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is used in adults for acute pain management, for relieving pain, stiffness and reducing inflammation associated with conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

    Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic condition affecting hands, feet and wrists joints and causing pain, swelling and stiffness of joints. Osteoarthritis is a progressive bone disorder affecting joints and causing pain and joint stiffness.

    During long term management with ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET, your doctor might order some investigations such as complete hemogram, liver function tests, kidney function tests to ensure better management outcomes.

    Avoid consuming alcohol and smoking while taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET as it may increase the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding.

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients who experienced allergic reaction, gastrointestinal bleeding, perforation after taking any other NSAID’s such as ibuprofen, aspirin, suffering from stomach ulcers, stomach bleeding or perforation, severe heart failure, liver failure, kidney failure or those who are in setting of coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Consult your doctor before taking.

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from high blood pressure, heart disorders (such as myocardial infarction, stroke), patients at risk of developing ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, pre-existing kidney disease, asthma, blood disorders, diabetes, high cholesterol, mixed connective tissue disorder such as lupus and fluid retention (swelling of legs, ankles, feet).

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women unless clearly necessary, therefore, consult your doctor before taking.

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents less than 18 years of age as its safety and effectiveness is not yet established.

    The most common side effects after taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET are abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, flatulence, bloating, vomiting. Consult your doctor immediately in case any of the side effects worsens or you experience allergic reaction after taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET.

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET helps in reducing pain and inflammation by managing the formation of prostaglandins and other mediators of inflammation and pain.

    How to use ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET

    Take ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine as whole with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the exact dosage and management duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET

    Common

    • stomach ulcer
    • bleeding and pain
    • diarrhoea
    • constipation
    • indigestion, flatulence
    • chills and fever
    • nausea, vomiting, bloating
    • itching, rashes
    • blurred vision, tingling in ears

    • blood disorders such as aplastic anaemia, leukopenia, neutropenia, pancytopenia
    • increased blood sugar (diabetic patients)

    Stop taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately in case you experience:

    • allergic reaction which causes difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat
    • cardiovascular problems-symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness or slurred speech
    • gastrointestinal bleeding and ulcerations symptoms include upper abdominal pain, dyspepsia, melena (black stools due to gastrointestinal bleeding) and hematemesis (vomiting blood)
    • liver problems- symptoms include nausea, fatigue, lethargy, pruritus (severe itching), jaundice, right upper quadrant tenderness and flu-like symptoms
    • congestive heart failure- symptoms include shortness of breath, unexplained weight gain or oedema (swelling in arms, legs, hands and feet)
    • serious skin reactions such as erythema multiforme, steven-Johnson syndrome, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (dress) symptoms include fever, rashes, swollen lymph nodes, blisters
    • aseptic meningitis- symptoms include headache, neck stiffness, fever, disorientation, feeling sick

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Avoid consuming caffeinated drinks, tea and coffee. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor in case the stomach pain did not improve.

    Diarrhoea:

    Drink plenty of water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Don’t take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea however contact your doctor if diarrhoea worsen.

    Headache:

    Rest and relax. Drink plenty of water and electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if required and do not consume alcohol however, contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.

    Nausea or Vomiting:

    Take the medicine with meals or after meals and stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food however, contact your doctor if nausea and vomiting worsen.

    Flatulence:

    Eat smaller meals but take frequently. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if the flatulence did not improve.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink water and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if constipation persists.

    Skin rash:

    Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin and do not scratch the affected area. Apply moisturizing cream and sunscreen regularly. Contact your doctor in case itching persists.

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless clearly necessary, therefore, consult your doctor before taking.

    Breastfeeding

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless clearly necessary as it may pass through breastmilk, therefore, consult your doctor before taking.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate machines after taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET as it may cause dizziness and vision problems.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consuming alcohol while taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET as it might as it may increase the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding.

    Kidney

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from kidney failure. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Liver

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from liver failure. Consult your doctor before taking.

    Allergy

    Do not take ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET if you are allergic to Etodolac or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from asthma or breathing problems, therefore consult your doctor before taking.

    Heart Disease

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from severe heart failure, therefore, inform your doctor if you are suffering from heart disorders (such as myocardial infarction, recent stroke) before taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET.

    Others

    ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have experienced allergic reaction, gastrointestinal bleeding, perforation after taking any other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, aspirin
    • are suffering from stomach ulcers, stomach bleeding or perforation
    • have been planned for setting of coronary artery bypass graft surgery

    Before taking ETOVA ER 600MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have:

    • high blood pressure
    • urine investigation for urinary bilirubin or ketone bodies
    • ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease
    • blood disorders
    • diabetes
    • high cholesterol
    • mixed connective tissue diseases such as lupus
    • fluid retention (swelling of legs, ankles, feet)

    Use in pediatrics:

    Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients below the age of 18 years have not been established. Consult your doctor before giving it to your child.

    Use in geriatrics:

    • aspirin, dipyridamole, clopidogrel (medicines used for managing blood thinning in cardiovascular patients)
    • cyclosporine, tacrolimus (medicines used to manage transplant rejection)
    • digoxin (a medicine used for management of irregular heartbeat)
    • methotrexate (a medicine used for management of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Crohn's disease)
    • frusemide, hydrochlorothiazide (medicine used for management of high blood pressure, oedema, kidney problems)
    • lithium (a medicine used for management of mood disorders)
    • phenylbutazone (a medicine used to manage arthritis and inflammatory musculoskeletal disorders)
    • warfarin (a medicine used for managing blood from clotting)
    • phenytoin (a medicine used to manage seizures/fits)
    • propranolol (a medicine used for management of high blood pressure)
    • zidovudine (a medicine used for management of HIV infection)
