ETOCEL P TABLET is a combination of Etoricoxib and Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) and Analgesics respectively. It is used to treat pain and inflammation in conditions like ankylosing spondylitis (inflammation of the spine), osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Osteoarthritis is defined as a progressive disorder affecting primarily weight-bearing joints, characterized by progressive worsening and loss of cartilage that join bones, pain, motion restriction, deformity and disability. Rheumatoid arthritis is a long-term, progressive inflammatory disorder of unknown cause characterized by involvement of five or more joints and systemic symptoms like tiredness, weakness, fever, loss of appetite and joint pain.
During course of the treatment your doctor might regularly monitor your liver and kidney function test to avoid any untoward side effects.
Before taking ETOCEL P TABLET, inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, stomach ulcer or bleeding, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, peripheral arterial disease and inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or colitis.
ETOCEL P TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breast-feeding women. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged less than 16 years) and it should be used with caution in elderly patients.
The most common side effect of taking ETOCEL P TABLET are stomach pain, constipation, flatulence, acid reflux, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, nausea and mouth ulcer. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
ETOCEL P TABLET helps to relieve pain and inflammation, where etoricoxib inhibits cyclo-oxygenase enzyme (COX-2) and reduces prostaglandins (PGs) generation from arachidonic acid and paracetamol appears to relieve pain by elevation of the pain threshold.
Take ETOCEL P TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ETOCEL P TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea:
Try to take ETOCEL P TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. If constipation does not improve, contact your doctor.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluids such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If diarrhea does not improve, contact your doctor.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals more frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the stomach pain does not improve, contact your doctor.
Flatulence:
Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. If flatulence does not improve, contact your doctor.
ETOCEL P TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking ETOCEL P TABLET.
ETOCEL P TABLET is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking ETOCEL P TABLET.
Do not drive or operate any machines while taking ETOCEL P TABLET since it may cause dizziness or sleepiness.
ETOCEL P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with serious kidney disease. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking ETOCEL P TABLET.
ETOCEL P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with serious liver disease. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking ETOCEL P TABLET.
Do not take ETOCEL P TABLET if you are allergic to Etoricoxib, Paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
ETOCEL P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart problems including heart failure (moderate or severe types), chest pain, heart attack or bypass surgery. It should be used with caution in patients with any other heart disease. Consult your doctor before taking ETOCEL P TABLET.
