Can eliquis 5mg be cut in half

Answered by:
Dr. Akhilesh Kumar
General Physician
The recommended dose of ELIQUIS for most patients is 5 mg or 2.5 mg taken orally twice daily. So, one can break the tablet of 5 mg to take the dose as recommended.but one should be very cautious when they change brand with same composition as bioavailability may vary with change of company. So taking 5 mg or breaking the drug can lead to decreased daily dose.
