ECOVIN contains Griseofulvin which belongs to a group of medicines called anti-fungal agents. It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, scalp, hair or nails and prevents them from growing on your skin. This medicine is usually preferred where other medicines is considered inappropriate or has failed. Griseofulvin belongs to anti-fungal which is used to stop the growth of fungi by preventing fungal cell division. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.
Do not drive or handle heavy machines if you experience dizziness. Your physician will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age and body weight. Alcoholic drinks or anything containing alcohol should be avoided while you are taking this medicine.
Take ECOVIN exactly as instructed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease, kidney or heart problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women avoid taking this medicine as it may harm the baby, consult your doctor for advice. The common side effects are headache, skin rash, nausea and diarrhea.
Griseofulvin inhibits the fungus cells from infecting new hair, skin or nails, which helps to get rid of the fungal infection. It exerts its antifungal effect by disrupting the cell division spindle apparatus of fungal cells, thus arresting cell division.
Always take ECOVIN exactly as your doctor has told you. Shake well before use.
Headache:
Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Apply a cold or wet cloth for your forehead.
Nausea:
Take normal regular meals and do not eat spicy foods.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Dizziness:
Get up and move around to feel awake, take naps and give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.
ECOVIN is not recommended during pregnancy, as it may harm the baby. Consult your doctor for advice.
ECOVIN is not recommended during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for advice.
Do not drive or handle any machines if you experience dizziness while taking this medicine.
Alcohol intake should be avoided while you are taking this ECOVIN.
There are limited studies available for ECOVIN and dose may be adjusted if needed. Consult your doctor for advice.
ECOVIN is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and regular monitoring of liver function test may be advised while the patient is taking this medicine. Consult your doctor for advice.
