What is Desonide used for?

Desonide is a topical corticosteroid cream used to treat redness, itching, and swelling caused by a number of skin conditions such as allergies, eczema, psoriasis, rash, and dermatitis. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to take Desonide?

The dosage of Desonide prescribed to each patient will vary. Always follow your physician’s instructions and/or the directions on the prescription drug label.

Wash your hands before and after applying Desonide. Apply a small amount of the cream onto the affected area and rub it gently.

If your physician has instructed or directed you to apply Desonide medication in a regular schedule and you have missed a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the doses unless otherwise directed.

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Desonide, seek medical attention immediately.

What are the drugs that interact with Desonide?

  • Cyclosporine
  • Hydrocortisone
  • Prednisone

It may be noted that drugs other than those listed above may also interact with Desonide.
