    Introduction About DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION

    DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION contains Daptomycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissues, blood and tissues covering the heart. It is suitable for use both in adults and in children (aged between 1-17 years).

    DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION should be used under medical supervision. Do not stop receiving this medicine even if you feel better during the midway of the therapy. Failing to complete the full course of the therapy or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.

    Before receiving DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any kidney problems or muscle problems as a precaution. DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION is generally not recommend for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

    The most common side effects of receiving DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION are nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, pain and redness at the site of injection, urinary tract infection, increased fungal infections, anemia, constipation and pain in arms or legs. Inform your doctor if they trouble you.

    Uses Of DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION

    It is used to manage the following bacterial infections:

    • Skin or soft tissue infections (Ex. cellulitis, erysipelas, impetigo, folliculitis, and furuncles and carbuncles)
    • Blood infections (Ex. sepsis)
    • Pericarditis (infections of tissues surrounding the heart)

    How DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION Works

    DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION is a powerful antibacterial agent. It kills the susceptible bacteria by disrupting the bacterial cell wall. This manages further bacterial growth and reduces the severity of the infection.

    How to use DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION

    DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously).

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the infection.

    Do not miss a dose or stop receiving DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION without consulting your doctor as it may worsen your condition.

    Side Effects Of DAPMICIN 350MG INJECTION

    Common

    • fungal infections (such as thrush)
    • urinary tract infection
    • low RBC count in blood (anaemia)
    • headache, dizziness, anxiety, difficulty in sleeping
    • fever, weakness
    • high or low blood pressure
    • constipation, stomach pain, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, bloating
    • abdominal swelling or bloating
    • skin rash or itching
    • injection site reactions (such as pain, redness or itching)
    • arm pain, leg pain
    • higher levels of liver enzymes or creatine phosphokinase (CPK)

    Uncommon

    • increase in WBC or platelet count in blood
    • decreased appetite
    • tingling or numbness of hands and feet
    • taste disturbances
    • abnormal heart rhythm
    • hot flushes
    • inflammation of the tongue
    • joint pain, tiredness
    • inflammation and irritation of the vagina
    • increase in blood sugar levels
    • itchy eyes

    Rare

    • yellowing of the skin and eyes
    • increased bleeding time

    Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs of severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
    • severe muscle weakness, tenderness or pain
    • severe persistent diarrhea with blood or mucus
    • signs of eosinophilic pneumonia (such as difficulty in breathing, new or worsening cough, or new or worsening fever)
    • severe skin reactions (such as skin rash with appears as red raised fluid filled spots under the armpits, chest or groin, blisters in mouth or genitals with fever)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If your diarrhea worsens, contact your doctor immediately.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely if you feel dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

    Headache

    Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor immediately if your symptom does not improve.

    Skin rash Or Itching

    Avoid taking hot showers, as it may further irritate your skin. Use protective clothes while going outdoors. Avoid scratching the affected area of the skin. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if your condition worsens.

    • Antihyperlipidemic agents (such as atorvastatin, rosuvastatin, fenofibrate)
    • ciclosporin (a medicine used to suppress immune system and manages graft rejection)
    • pain-relieving medicines (such as aspirin, diclofenac, celecoxib)
    • oral anticoagulants (used for blood thinning) such as warfarin
