Introduction About CIDNAVIR INJECTION
CIDNAVIR INJECTIONcontains Cidofovir which belongs to the group of medicines called Antivirals. It is used to manage cytomegalovirus retinitis, an eye infection commonly seen in patients with AIDS or severely compromised immune system. It improves your condition by delaying progression of the disease.
Cidofovir blocks the replication of viruses by inhibiting the viral DNA polymerase enzyme, stopping the virus from making new DNA. This helps control viral infections, especially in people with weakened immune systems.
Before receiving CIDNAVIR INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have diabetes mellitus. CIDNAVIR INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with kidney disease.
CIDNAVIR INJECTION is generally not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in children (aged below 18 years) unless advised by the doctor. Men and women should practice barrier birth control methods during and for 3-6 months after treatment with CIDNAVIR INJECTION.
The most common side effects of receiving CIDNAVIR INJECTIONare headache, nausea or vomiting, rash and weakness. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How CIDNAVIR INJECTION Works
CIDNAVIR INJECTION contains Cidofovir which works by stopping the replication of viruses, particularly those from the herpesvirus family, like cytomegalovirus (CMV). It is converted into an active form inside infected cells, where it interferes with viral DNA synthesis. By blocking the viral DNA polymerase enzyme, it prevents the virus from making new copies of its DNA, which slows down or stops the virus from spreading. This helps control the infection, especially in people with weakened immune systems.
How to use CIDNAVIR INJECTION
CIDNAVIR INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

How To Manage Side Effects
Skin rash Or Itching
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
ContraindicatedCIDNAVIR INJECTION is not recommended for use in pregnant women or if you are planning to have a baby unless the potential benefits justify the risks to the foetus. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraceptive measures while being treated with CIDNAVIR INJECTION and for six months following completion of treatment. Men should practice barrier birth control methods during and for 3 months after treatment.
Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedCIDNAVIR INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding as it may pass through breastmilk. Consult your doctor for advice.
Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDo not drive or use machines while receiving CIDNAVIR INJECTION as you may feel fatigue or weakness. Consult your doctor.
Kidney
Consult your doctorCIDNAVIR INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with kidney damage. CIDNAVIR INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems, monitoring required after receiving CIDNAVIR INJECTION. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not receive CIDNAVIR INJECTION if you are allergic to cidofovir or probenecid.
Use In Pediatrics
ContraindicatedCIDNAVIR INJECTION is not recommended for use in children as it is not been studied yet. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

- antibacterials (Ex. aminoglycosides, pentamidine or vancomycin)
- antifungals (amphotericin B)
- Antivirals (foscarnet)
- adefovir (for HBV infection)
- Anti-HIV agents (Ex. Tenofovir, zidovudine)
B. Drug-Food interactions:
Food should be taken before you are given CIDNAVIR INJECTION. Your doctor may instruct you to drink plenty of fluids before receiving it.
Overdosage:
CIDNAVIR INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual side effects.
