What BUDESONIDE (AML) 3MG is used for?

It is used to treat,

  • Crohn’s disease (an inflammation of the small bowel and the first part of the large bowel)
  • Microscopic colitis (a disease with chronic inflammation of the large bowel which is typically associated with chronic watery diarrhoea)

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to budesonide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have a fungal, viral or other infection of the airways, e.g. a cold or chest infection
  • have TB (tuberculosis)
  • have high blood pressure or diabetes
  • have liver problem
  • have brittle bones
  • have stomach ulcers
  • suffer from glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) or cataracts
  • have family history of mental health problems
  • have diabetes
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
  • This medicine is not for use in children
  • BUDESONIDE (AML) 3MG is not likely to affect you being able to drive or use any tools or machines

Tell your doctor, if you are taking:

  • itraconazole or ketoconazole used to treat fungal infections
  • ritonavir or cobicistat used to treat HIV infection
  • erythromycin and clarithromycin used to treat bacterial infections
  • oestrogens and contraceptive steroids
  • prednisolone or dexamethasone (steroid medicines)
  • colestyramine, used to reduce cholesterol levels
  • carbamazepine (used to treat epilepsy and fits)
  • Always take this medicine exactly your doctor has told you
  • Swallow the capsules whole with a glass of water

If you take more BUDESONIDE (AML) 3MG

  • If you take more BUDESONIDE (AML) 3MG , talk to your doctor straight away

If you forget to take BUDESONIDE (AML) 3MG

  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose

If you stop taking BUDESONIDE (AML) 3MG

  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • raised lumps on your skin (weals)
  • skin rash, itching, lumpy rash (hives), blistering of the skin
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat
  • heartburn
  • muscle cramps
  • pounding heart beat (palpitations)
  • rash or itchy skin
  • heavy or irregular periods in women
  • low levels of potassium in the blood which may cause muscle weakness, thirst or ‘pins and needles’
  • cushingoid features such as a rounded face, acne, weight gain and bruising more easily
  • behavioural changes such as feeling nervous, difficulty sleeping, mood swings and depression
  • shaking
  • unintentional movements or extreme restlessness possibly accompanied by muscle spasms or twitching
  • anxiety
  • aggression
  • clouding of the eye's natural lens including the back of the lens
  • skin discoloration resulting from bleeding beneath the skin
  • glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
  • blurred vision
  • severe allergic reaction which may cause difficulty in breathing or shock
  • slowing of the rate of growth in children and adolescents
  • changes in bone mineral density (thinning of the bones)
  • glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
