BEMPESTA 180MG is used alone or together with cholesterol-lowering medicine (statins) to treat primary hypercholesterolaemia (condition that occurs due to high cholesterol levels in blood) or mixed dyslipidaemia (condition marked by elevations of bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels with low levels of good cholesterol in the blood) in adults when statins become intolerable to treat the condition in affected individuals.
What common side effects are seen with BEMPESTA 180MG?
The most common side effects associated with the use of BEMPESTA 180MG are anaemia (lower number of red blood cells), gout (increased blood uric acid levels), and pain in shoulders, legs and/or arms. Consult your doctor if any of the symptom worsens.
Who should avoid taking BEMPESTA 180MG?
BEMPESTA 180MG is not recommended for use if you are allergic to bempedoic acid. It is also not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Also, not indicated for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
How BEMPESTA 180MG works?
BEMPESTA 180MG works by inhibiting ATP citrate lyase (enzyme responsible for synthesis of cholesterol especially low-density lipoprotein (LDL) / bad cholesterol) which leads to enhanced LDL uptake and clearance in the liver resulting in lowered total blood cholesterol levels.
What if I forget to take a dose of BEMPESTA 180MG?
You should take BEMPESTA 180MG immediately when you remember. If it is time for your next dose skip the missed dose and follow your regular dose schedule. Do not double the dose to match up your missed dose.
Is BEMPESTA 180MG safe to use in children or elderly patients?
BEMPESTA 180MG is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age) and it should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 75 years). Consult your doctor before taking BEMPESTA 180MG.
