ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET contains Amoxicillin which belongs to the group of medicines called Penicillins. It is used to treat wide range of infections caused by gram positive and gram-negative bacteria which includes respiratory infection (such as otitis media), sinus infection, gynaecological infection, urinary tract infection and other serious infections (such as septicaemia).
ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from mononucleosis (glandular fever caused by Epstein Barr Virus) and/or certain infections (especially urinary tract infection, a severe infection of ear/nose/throat) caused by the non-susceptible pathogen.
Before taking ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have a history of seizures/fits, meningeal disorders, diarrhoea, kidney problems (such as renal impairment) and/or liver problems (such as hepatic impairment).
ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary. ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET should be used with caution in children and adolescents (from 6 months to 18 years of age) and elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
The most common side effects of taking ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET are skin rash, nausea and diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET works by inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins that are responsible for bacterial cell wall formation. This leads to the activation of autolytic enzymes in the bacterial cell wall which causes its destruction thus preventing the spread of infection in affected individuals.

Take ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Dispersible Tablet:
Take ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Disperse ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned on the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution. Your doctor will recommend the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking ALMOX DT 250MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Nausea or vomiting:
Take this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine without consulting your physician. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not get better.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot showers as hot water can irritate the skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If the symptoms do not improve, contact your doctor.
Itchy Skin:
Pat or tap your skin instead of scratching it. Hold a moist towel to cool your skin. Wear loose clothes and avoid tight clothes or clothes made from wool or synthetic fabrics. Avoid using perfumed soaps, deodorants or moisturizers and use a skin softener regularly.
