When tiredness, exhaustion, or dullness is persistent and doesn’t budge even if you drink a cup of coffee or have a peaceful sleep, it’s time to get checked as these are some of the tell-tale symptoms of anaemia.
Anaemia is a health condition when there is an absence of red blood cells in the blood causing oxygen- shortage in the blood flowing throughout the body. Red blood cells form an important part of haemoglobin that usually ties up the oxygen molecules and allows them to move freely throughout the body. So, having a low supply of red blood cells decreases the haemoglobin and oxygen as well, which in turn makes one feel tired and exhausted most of the time. While there are numerous forms of anaemia, the most common type plaguing several individuals is iron deficiency anaemia which chiefly arises due to the absence of iron-rich foods or supplements in the regular diet. Ayurveda, the holistic system of medicine brings you one extraordinary remedy for anaemia and its underlying symptoms in the form of Lohasava.
What Is Lohasava?
Lohasava is an Ayurvedic proprietary medication in the form of liquid comprising naturally processed iron which plays a vital role to pacify Kapha and Vata Doshas and the irregularities arising due to its imbalance. It primarily comprises 4 - 10 % of self-generated alcohol in it. This self-generated alcohol is mainly indicated in deficiency of iron in the body acting as an iron tonic. Lohasava is a powerful hematinic product, i.e., it might either help in the synthesis of new red blood cells or might help boost the production of haemoglobin (a protein) in them.
Lohasava shows beneficial effects in anaemia, hepatitis, spleen enlargement, fatty liver, jaundice, malabsorption syndrome, cough, asthma etc. Owing to its Lekhaniya quality, it readily promotes weight loss by discarding the accumulated fats in the body.

The plethora of herbs in the formulation also meets the requirement of important essential minerals, especially iron which helps in gaining overall strength and improves body metabolism.

Some scientific studies also correlate it to mental health as the individual suffers from low extreme weight issues, fear of becoming obese, poor self-esteem and a fierce desire to reduce weight in any way possible, sometimes even inducing forceful vomiting to get rid of eaten food. In Ayurveda, Anorexia chiefly occurs due to Agnimandya (weak digestion) and is majorly provoked by a disruption of the normal Vata, Pitta, and Kapha dosha levels in the body. Lohasava being a natural digestive and appetizer improves the digestion of food, promotes appetite and warrants that the person eats healthily.
