How Lincomycin works
Lincomycin works by binding to bacterial genetic material (RNA) and cause inhibition of synthesis of certain essential proteins in bacteria which leads to its destruction and prevent its spread to other parts of the body thus treating infections caused by susceptible bacteria in affected individuals.
Common side effects of Lincomycin
- Pain, redness and swelling (injection site reactions)
- Vomiting
- Headache
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Diarrhea

Consult your doctor if you experience:
- severe skin reactions
- severe/persistent diarrhoea
- changes in urine output
- swelling of hands/eyes/throat
- yellowing of skin/eyes

- Take lincomycin exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than the prescribed dose, and complete the full course of treatment, even if you start feeling better
- Lincomycin is often taken one hour before or two hours after meals. However, follow your doctor's specific instructions regarding food and medication interactions
- Lincomycin should be used with caution in pregnant and breast feeding women
- Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking Lincomycin as it may increase its side effects
