The combination of Domperidone + Ranitidine is used to treat and prevent:
Domperidone: Prokinetic Drugs
Ranitidine: Histamine (H2) receptor blockers
Domperidone stimulates the gut and speeds up the movements of food from the stomach into the intestines. These actions reduce the chances for acid reflux and prevents the irritation of food pipe and other unpleasant symptoms of GI tract (such as acidity, bloating, burping and indigestion).
It also blocks the transmission of nerve signals between the vomiting centres of the spinal cord and the brain which reduces the onset of nausea and vomiting.
Ranitidine blocks the effects of certain chemicals in the gut (such as histamines) that increases stomach acid production. As a result, it heals the existing ulcers and prevents them from becoming worse.
