    Introduction About ZEMI 320MG TABLET

    ZEMI 320MG TABLET contains Gemifloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis) when management with other antibiotics does not result in adequate response.

    Take ZEMI 320MG TABLET for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor even if you feel better during the midway of the therapy to achieve better results. Failing to complete the full course of the therapy or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.

    Before taking ZEMI 320MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any heart problems (such as irregular heartbeat or heart attack). You must also inform your doctor if you have any genetic problems, high blood pressure or low blood potassium/magnesium levels as a precaution. Leave a time gap at least 2-4 hours before taking ZEMI 320MG TABLET with antacids.

    Consult your doctor before taking ZEMI 320MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not suitable for use in children aged below 18 years. While taking ZEMI 320MG TABLET drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

    ZEMI 320MG TABLET may make your skin more sensitive. Therefore, avoid unnecessary exposure of your skin towards sunlight or towards any other light sources as a precaution. Use sunscreens and wear protective clothing while going outdoors.

    How ZEMI 320MG TABLET Works

    ZEMI 320MG TABLET is an antibiotic. It kills the susceptible bacteria that causes infection. It works by blocking the actions of certain bacterial proteins (such as DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV) which is essential for the bacteria to survive. As a result, it destroys the susceptible bacteria and manage their further growth and multiplication within the body which helps in reducing the severity of the infection.

    How to use ZEMI 320MG TABLET

    Take ZEMI 320MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow ZEMI 320MG TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. ZEMI 320MG TABLET can be taken with or without food.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the infection.

    Do not stop taking ZEMI 320MG TABLET once your symptoms subside. It is important to take ZEMI 320MG TABLET for the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor to achieve control over the infection.

    • throat tightness, hoarseness, difficulty in breathing, worsening cough
    • chest pain, back pain, stomach pain
    • signs of liver damage (such as nausea, vomiting, severe stomach pain, yellowing of skin and whites of the eye, dark urine, pale stools, skin itchiness, confusion)
    • pale skin, extreme thirst or hunger, feeling shaky, fast heartbeat, sweating, frequent urination, blurred vision and unusual anxiety

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. If your diarrhea worsens, contact your doctor immediately.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take ZEMI 320MG TABLET with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Please consult your doctor immediately if you experience severe nausea and vomiting.

    ZEMI 320MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems (such as irregular heart rate, heart attack, aortic aneurysm (anormal bulging in blood vessel) and high blood pressure. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    • have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (a genetic disease that can affect skin, joints and blood vessels)
    • have a low level of potassium or magnesium in blood

    Before taking ZEMI 320MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:

    • medicines used for blood thinning (such as warfarin, heparin)
    • medicines used to manage psychiatric illness (such as phenothiazines, pimozide, sertindole, haloperidol, sultopride)
    • medicines used to manage depression (such as fluoxetine, sertraline)
    • cisapride (a medicine used to manage heart burn)
    • diuretics (used to reduce edema and blood pressure) such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide
    • erythromycin (a medicine used to manage bacterial infection)
    • medicines used to neutralize stomach acid secretions (such as magaldrate, aluminium hydroxide, sucralfate)
    • medicines used o manage diabetes (such as insulin, metformin, pioglitazone, rosiglitazone, glimepiride, glipizide, glibenclamide, tolazamide and tolbutamide)
    • hormone replacement therapy (used to correct menstrual problems)
    • medicines used to manage abnormal heart rhythm (such as quinidine, procainamide, sotalol)
    • medicines used for pain relief (such as ibuprofen, naproxen)
    • probenecid (a medicine used to manage gout)
    • didanosine (a medicine used to manage HIV infection)
    • vitamin supplements containing iron, magnesium, or zinc

    B. Drug-Food Interactions:

    Do not take ZEMI 320MG TABLET with milk products such as milk or yogurt, or with calcium-fortified juices alone. However, it can be taken with a meal that includes these foods or drinks.

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more ZEMI 320MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
