Description

Smith & Nephew Opsite 28 cm-45 cm is a sterile dressing designed for the management of large surgical wounds. It consists of a transparent polyurethane film combined with a soft, absorbent, and low-adherent pad. This construction provides a barrier against bacteria and allows the skin to breathe, which helps in managing moisture and reducing the risk of skin maceration. The waterproof nature of the film permits the user to shower without needing to change the dressing.

Waterproof Film: The dressing is impermeable to water and body fluids, which allows the patient to shower without the need for a dressing change.
Bacterial Barrier: Its film acts as a protective barrier, helping to reduce the risk of secondary infection from external contaminants.
Absorbent Pad: A highly absorbent, low-adherent pad manages wound exudate, which can minimize the frequency of dressing changes and reduces pain during removal.
Breathable Material: The film has a high moisture vapor transmission rate, allowing the skin to breathe and preventing moisture accumulation under the dressing.
Conformable Design: It is designed to be flexible and conform to even difficult body contours, ensuring it is comfortable for the patient and does not restrict movement.

Q: Is Smith & Nephew Opsite dressing waterproof?

A: Yes, the Opsite dressing is made of a transparent, waterproof film that allows patients to shower without needing to change the dressing. It acts as a barrier to water and body fluids.

Q: What is this dressing used for?

Q: Can this dressing protect against infection?

A: Yes, the Opsite film provides a barrier against bacteria, including MRSA, which helps to reduce the risk of secondary infection from external contaminants.

Q: How should the dressing be applied and removed?

A: To apply, clean and dry the wound area, then place the dressing over the wound using the numbered tabs for guidance. For removal, gently lift one corner of the transparent film and pull it away from the pad, repeating along the edges until the dressing lifts off easily. It is always recommended to wash your hands before application or removal and to consult a healthcare professional for guidance.
