Introduction About ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is a combination of Aspirin and isosorbide mononitrate which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-platelets and Nitrates. It is used for the prophylaxis management of angina and myocardial infarction in adults.
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with lung diseases such as asthma, severe liver or kidney disease, or severe heart diseases such as constrictive pericarditis, circulatory failure, cardiogenic shock, severe hypotension, pericardial tamponade, or restrictive cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), low cardiac filling pressures, or aortic or mitral valve stenosis.
Before taking ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you have had any serious damage to your heart, such as a heart attack. ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is generally not recommended for use in pregnancy unless considered necessary. ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE should not be used by breastfeeding women because it may pass through the breast milk. ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use by children.
In patients over the age of 65, ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE should be used with caution. Alcohol consumption should be avoided because it can lower blood pressure, cause dizziness or fainting, increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, and lengthen the bleeding time.
The most common side effects of ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, indigestion, headache, low blood pressure on standing up causing dizziness, an increased tendency for bleeding, drowsiness, sleepiness, feeling weak, tiredness, an increased or slow heart rate, and flushing. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE helps to manage angina and myocardial infarction, where aspirin works by inhibiting cyclo-oxygenase activity in platelets, which reduces the aggregation of platelets, managing the formation of clots in blood vessels, and isosorbide mononitrate work by relaxing the blood vessels of the heart, reducing the strain on the heart and making it easier to pump blood. As a result, ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE reduces the risk of angina and myocardial infarction.
How to use ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE
Take this medicine as advised by your physician. Swallow this medicine as a whole with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine.
Side Effects Of ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE
Common
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, indigestion
- increased tendency for bleeding
- headache, low blood pressure on standing up causing dizziness
- drowsiness, sleepiness
- feeling weak, tiredness
- increased heart rate, or slow heart rate, flushing
Uncommon
- hives or skin rash, itching
- runny noses
- looking pale
- excessive sweating
- restlessness, worsening angina
Rare
- severe bleeding in the stomach or intestines
- haemorrhage in the brain
- change in the number of blood cells
- asthma attack, pain in the lower respiratory tract
- inflammation in the blood vessels
- bruising with purple spots (cutaneous bleeding)
- reye’s syndrome
- abnormal heavy or prolonged menstrual periods
Stop taking ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reaction such as sudden wheezing, rashes or itching over the entire body, swelling of your lips, face or body, rash-causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing or shock or fainting
- exfoliative dermatitis (serious illness with blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals) or reddening of the skin with blisters or peeling and associated with a high fever and joint pains. Severe skin reactions such as erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell’s syndrome
- unusual bleeding, such as blood in urine, black stools, vomiting blood or coughing up blood
How To Manage Side Effects
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or electrolytes, and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Nausea, vomiting:
Take this medicine with meals or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices, to keep you hydrated. Take no medication on your own to manage diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Indigestion:
Eat smaller meals but take them frequently. Eat and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Dizziness or drowsiness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Itchy skin:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use unscented moisturisers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel headache, blurred vision, dizziness, and tiredness after taking [GBNEYWORD].
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may lower blood pressure cause dizziness or fainting and also increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and prolong bleeding time.
Kidney
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease. Contact your doctor before taking it.
Liver
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. Contact your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
Do not take ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE if you are allergic to Aspirin, Isosorbide mononitrate, other salicylates or NSAIDs or lactose or some sugars, or other ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in patients with lung diseases such as asthma, hay fever, nasal polyps and other chronic respiratory diseases. Contact your doctor before taking it.
Heart Disease
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE not recommended for use in patients with severe heart diseases such as constrictive pericarditis, circulatory failure, cardiogenic shock, severe hypotension, pericardial tamponade or restrictive cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), low cardiac filling pressures and aortic or mitral valve stenosis, severe heart problems causing shortness of breath and ankle swelling. ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients who had a heart attack. Contact your doctor before taking it.
Others
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use if you have:
- active ulcer in the stomach or small intestine or bleeding
- stroke
- problems with blood clotting such as bleeding diathesis (like haemophilia)
- gout
- elevated intracranial pressure
- low blood volume (hypovolemia)
- severe low blood pressure (hypotension)
- severely impaired blood flow in the brain (cerebrovascular insufficiency)
- severe anaemia
- brain haemorrhage (bleeding)
- head injury (trauma)
- shock or circulatory failure or vascular collapse
- glaucoma
- hypothrombinaemia
- arterial hypoxemia
- cor pulmonale
- orthostatic disturbances of circulatory regulation
Before taking ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you have:
- problems with the stomach or intestine
- uncontrolled high blood pressure
- heavy menstrual periods
- glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enzyme deficiency
- hypothyroidism
- malnourishment
- hypothermia (very low body temperature)
- very poor circulation
- surgeries

ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use by children. Contact your doctor before taking it.
Use in geriatrics:
ISMORIN 60/75MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Contact your doctor before taking it.

- medicines used to thin the blood or manage clots (Ex. warfarin, heparin, clopidogrel, alteplase)
- medicines used to manage rejection of organ after transplantation (Ex. cyclosporine, tacrolimus)
- medicines used to manage high blood pressure or heart diseases such as beta-blockers (atenolol, propranolol), calcium channel blockers (nifedipine, diltiazem), vasodilators (glycerol trinitrate, methyldopa), angiotensin receptor blockers (olmesartan medoxomil, candesartan cilexetil), Ace inhibitors like ramipril, moxonidine and diuretics like chlorothiazide, furosemide and spironolactone)
- medicines used for heart failure (digoxin)
- medicines used for the manic-depressive disorder (lithium)
- medicines used for pain (Ex. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen)
- probenecid, sulfinpyrazone (medicines used to manage gout)
- medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex. valproate, phenytoin, phenobarbitone)

- histamine (medicines sued as a diagnostic agent)
- medicines used to manage depression (Ex. tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, and clomipramine)
- medicines used to manage psychosis such as fluphenazine, haloperidol

Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose are a fall in blood pressure causing faintness, dizziness, feeling sick, ringing in the ears, hearing problems, headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Overdose can lead to more rapid breathing than normal (hyperventilation), fever, excess sweating, restlessness, seizures, hallucinations, low blood sugar, coma, and shock.
