INTRODUCTION ABOUT FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE contains Artemether which belongs to the group of medicines called Antimalarial agents. It is used to manage malaria. It is not used to manage malaria or to manage severe malaria (where it has affected the brain, lungs, or kidneys).
Malaria is a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by a parasite that commonly infects a certain type of mosquito which feeds on humans.
People who get malaria are typically very sick with high fever, shaking chills, headache, muscle pain and flu-like illness. There are four kinds of malaria parasites infect humans such as Plasmodium falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, and P. malariae.
Your doctor will monitor with blood tests once a week for 4 weeks to detect the presence of malarial parasites.
Before taking FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE inform your doctor if you have liver, or kidney problems. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding women before taking this medicine. The most common side effects are headache, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, ringing in the ears. Consult your doctor for advice if any of the above side effect worsen or persist for a longer duration.

HOW FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE WORKS
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE is an antiparasitic medication which works by producing harmful chemicals (free radicals) within the malarial parasite, thereby works against them.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take this medicine as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
SIDE EFFECTS OF FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE
COMMON
- decreased appetite
- headache
- nausea, vomiting
- abdominal pain
- cough
- ringing in the ears
- unusually slow heartbeat
RARE
Stop taking and contact your doctor immediately, if you have:
- allergic reaction symptoms such as breathlessness, severe rash, or swollen eyes
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea and Vomiting:
Try to take this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water and electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Abdominal pain:
Rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Do not self-manage on your own and consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve on its own.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant women (especially first 3 months of pregnancy). Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
BREASTFEEDING
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in breast feeding women (especially first 3 months of breast feeding). Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE may cause dizziness, sleepiness, tiredness or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive, or operate machinery. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during management with this medicine.
KIDNEY
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients suffering from severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
LIVER
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients suffering from severe liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
ALLERGY
Do not take FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Artemether or any other ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in patients suffering from heart disease. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
OTHERS
Do not take FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE inform your doctor if have:
- severe type of malaria infection
Use in pediatrics:
There is no proper information regarding the use of FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE in children. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Use in geriatrics:
FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking FALCYDOL 40MG CAPSULE inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- heart medicines (Ex. quinidine, disopyramide, procainamide)
- antihistamines (Ex. terfenadine, astemizole)
- medicines (Ex. probucol, erythromycin)
B. Drug-Food interaction:
Avoid grapefruit juice while taking this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately.
