    Introduction About DUBINAC SR TABLET

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is a combination of Aceclofenac and Pregabalin which belongs to the group of medicines called Analgesics and Anticonvulsants respectively. It is used to manage nerve pain (also known as neuropathic pain).

    It can also be used to provide relief from joint pain (Ex. osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis), back pain (Ex. ankylosing spondylitis), neck pain, sciatic nerve pain (pain from the nerve that runs at the back of the legs) and pain caused due to injuries or surgeries.

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is preferably taken with or after meals to avoid gastric irritation. Avoid smoking or consumption of alcohol as it could aggravate the risk of stomach problems. Do not take DUBINAC SR TABLET if you have any ulcers, bleeding or perforations in the gut.

    Before taking DUBINAC SR TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have diabetes, hypertension, high blood cholesterol, any inflammation in the bowel or intestines, blood clots, bleeding problems or a previous history of stomach ulcers as a precaution. DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

    The most common side effects of taking DUBINAC SR TABLET are nausea, indigestion, heartburn, stomach pain, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, lack of attention, clumsiness, memory impairment, tingling or numbness, blurred vision, weight gain, difficulties with erection, decreased sexual drive, delayed ejaculation and muscle cramps. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

    It is used to manage:

    • nerve pain
    • joint pain (Ex. osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis)
    • back pain (Ex. ankylosing spondylitis)
    • neck pain
    • sciatic nerve pain (pain from the nerve that runs at the back of the legs)
    • post-surgical/injury pain

    How DUBINAC SR TABLET Works

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is a pain-relieving medicine. It reduces pain sensation by interfering with the pain signals travelling between the damaged nerves and the brain. It also blocks the release of certain chemicals (such as prostaglandins) in the body that causes pain, inflammation and swelling. As a result, it reduces nerve pain, joint pain and back pain.

    How to use DUBINAC SR TABLET

    Take DUBINAC SR TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It is preferably taken with meals to avoid gastric irritation.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of DUBINAC SR TABLET

    Common

    • dizziness, drowsiness, headache
    • increased appetite
    • increased mood, confusion, disorientation, irritability
    • lack of attention, clumsiness, memory impairment
    • tremor, difficulty in speaking
    • tingling or numbness, sedation, lethargy
    • difficulty in sleeping, tiredness
    • blurred vision, double vision
    • spinning sensation, problems with balance
    • dry mouth, constipation, vomiting, flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, swelling in abdomen
    • swelling of the extremities (such as hands, legs or fingers)
    • feeling drunk, abnormal style of walking
    • weight gain
    • muscle cramps, joint or back pain, pain in limbs
    • sore throat
    • difficulties with erection, decreased sexual drive, delayed ejaculation

    Uncommon

    • loss of appetite, weight loss, flatulence
    • high or low blood sugar
    • hallucinations, mood changes
    • mouth ulcers
    • dry eyes, eye pain, watery eyes, eye swelling
    • heart rate disturbances, high or low blood pressure
    • flushing
    • difficulty in breathing, dry nose, nasal congestion
    • increased salivation, heartburn, numbness around mouth
    • sweating, rash, chills, fever
    • breast pain
    • difficulty or painful urination
    • allergic reaction (swollen face, itchiness, hives, runny nose, nose bleeding)
    • painful menstruation
    • cold hands and feet
    • increase in blood urea levels
    • increase in blood creatinine levels

    Rare

    • abnormal sense of smell
    • cold sweat, tightness of the throat, swelling of tongue
    • inflammation of the pancreas
    • difficulty with writing properly
    • fluid in the lungs
    • muscle damage
    • discharge from breasts, abnormal growth of breast in men
    • low urine output
    • signs of Parkinsonism (muscle stiffness, shaking and decreased ability to move)
    • anemia

    Stop taking DUBINAC SR TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following:

    • signs of severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, fever, ulcers on the mucous membrane, oral sores)
    • severe skin reactions (such as skin rash with itching and redness, blistering and peeling of skin, skin swelling and inflammation of mucous membrane, joint pain with fever)
    • signs of brain inflammation (such as high fever, headache, vomiting, blotchy red rashes, neck stiffness, sensitivity and intolerance to light)
    • bloody stools, vomits or urine
    • heart attack or stroke
    • difficulty in passing urine, painful urination, low urine output
    • severe stomach pain with indigestion and heartburn
    • signs of low blood count (causing tiredness, breathlessness, joint pain, repeated infections, increased bleeding and bruising)
    • low potassium levels in blood causing blood vessel inflammation
    • fall or accidental injury
    • blurred vision or vision changes
    • fits (convulsions)
    • suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming or killing themselves

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea and Vomiting:

    Take DUBINAC SR TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.

    Dizziness:

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Mouth ulcers:

    Avoid eating spicy foods. Drink plenty of water. Apply a pain-relieving gel on the affected areas of the mouth if required. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Diarrhea

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea and consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Skin rash:

    Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if your skin rash worsens.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it. Women of childbearing age must use a suitable contraceptive method (non-hormonal methods) to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with DUBINAC SR TABLET.

    Breastfeeding

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless considered necessary by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking DUBINAC SR TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking DUBINAC SR TABLET as it could make you feel dizzier and drowsier.

    Kidney

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe kidney diseases. It should be used with caution in patients with other mild kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Liver

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended in patients with severe liver problems (such as liver failure). It should be used with caution in patients with other mild liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Do not take DUBINAC SR TABLET if you are allergic to Pregabalin, Aceclofenac or to any other NSAIDs (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen or diclofenac).

    Lungs

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients who previous experienced asthma attack or breathing difficulties after taking any pain-relieving medicine. It should be used with caution in patients with asthma or any other breathing problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Heart Disease

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart problems (such as heart attack). It should be used with caution in patients with other heart problems (such as angina). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Others

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have GI bleeding (bloody stools or vomits)
    • have ulcers in the stomach or intestines
    • have stroke or any problems in blood circulation
    • have bleeding or any blood clotting disorders
    • recently had an operation to clear or bypass blockages

    Before taking DUBINAC SR TABLET inform your doctor if you:

    • have porphyria
    • have diabetes
    • have high blood pressure
    • have blood cholesterol levels
    • have inflammation of the bowel (Ex. Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease)
    • have holes or blockage in the gut
    • have a history of stomach ulcers
    • have any autoimmune disorders that affects the skin (Systemic lupus erythematosus)
    • smoke
    • are an alcoholic
    • have a habit of drug abuse or dependence
    • have blood clots in the body
    • recently had any surgery
    • have chickenpox

    Use in Pediatrics:

    DUBINAC SR TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor for advice before taking it.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    DUBINAC SR TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice before taking it.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before taking DUBINAC SR TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:

    • other medicines used to manage pain (Ex. aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, etoricoxib)
    • medicines used to manage increased blood pressure (Ex. enalapril, lisinopril, losartan, candesartan, methyldopa, clonidine, propranolol)
    • diuretics (used to reduce edema and blood pressure) Ex. furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide
    • cardiac glycosides (used to correct heart rhythm (Ex. digoxin)
    • medicines used to suppress immune system after organ transplantation (Ex. ciclosporin or tacrolimus)
    • medicines used to stop blood clotting (Ex. warfarin, heparin, clopidogrel)
    • corticosteroids (used to manage pain and inflammation) Ex. hydrocortisone, prednisolone
    • medicines used to manage infections (Ex. ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin)
    • medicines used to manage depression (Ex. citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine and sertraline)
    • medicines used to manage cancer and autoimmune disorders such as arthritis and skin conditions (Ex. methotrexate)
    • mifepristone, ethinyl estradiol (birth control pills)
    • medicines used to manage HIV infection (Ex. zidovudine)
    • medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. glibenclamide, gliclazide, tolbutamide)
    • oxycodone (used as a pain killer)
    • lorazepam (used for reducing anxiety)
    • opioid analgesics (used for pain relief) such as morphine, pethidine, fentanyl
    • medicines used to reduce muscle pain or spasms (baclofen, tizanidine, chlorzoxazone)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more DUBINAC SR TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital straight away. Symptoms of overdosage might include sleepiness, confusion, agitation, restlessness and fits.
