Introduction About CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS
CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS contains Cephalexin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage bacterial infections of the breathing tract (Ex. tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and bronchitis), middle ear (otitis media), skin and soft tissue, bone and joints, reproductive organs, and urinary tract (cystitis, prostatitis).
CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS can also be used to manage dental infections. Bacterial infections are usually characterized by fever, extreme tiredness, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, groin or elsewhere, headache, nausea or vomiting.
Before taking CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS, inform your doctor if you have any kidney problems or if you are due for a blood or urine test as CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS may interfere with these tests.
CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women so, contact your doctor before taking it. CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS can be used in children, however, your doctor will decide the exact dose and duration of the medicine for your child.
The most common side effect of taking CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS is diarrhea. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms are getting worse.

CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that shows bactericidal action (kills the bacteria) by inhibiting the formation of bacterial cell wall.
How to use CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS
Take CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS as advised by your physician. Add advised amount of water slowly, then replace the cap back. Shake it well, discard the cap and fit the dropper. Dose and duration of CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS will be decided by your physician depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

- diarrhoea
Rare
- transient hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice (yellowish discolouration of skin and eyes)
Stop taking CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reaction
- acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (red scaly widespread rash with bumps under the skin and blisters along with fever at the beginning of the management)

Driving and Using Machines

Kidney
CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS should be used with caution in patients with markedly impaired kidney function. Contact your doctor before taking it.
Liver

Allergy

Interactions
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before taking CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- other medicines used for bacterial infections (Ex. gentamicin, tobramycin, cefuroxime, colistin)
- water tablets used to manage water retention (Ex. furosemide, ethacrynic acid)
- probenecid (used to manage gout)
- metformin (used to manage diabetes)
- polymyxin (used to manage fungal infections)
- medicines used to manage leukaemia (Ex. daunorubicin, cytarabine)
- medicines used for blood thinning (Ex. rivaroxaban, dabigatran)
- live typhoid vaccine
- medicines used to manage pregnancy (Ex. estradiol, progestin)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of CEPHADEX 500MG DROPS, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, distress in upper abdomen, diarrhoea and blood in urine.
