Introduction About CANDOSA 4 TABLET
CANDOSA 4 TABLET contains Candesartan which belongs to the group of medicines called Angiotensin II receptor antagonists. CANDOSA 4 TABLET is used in adults and children (aged 6 to 18 years) to manage hypertension (high blood pressure), which is a condition that occurs when force exerted by the circulating blood against the blood vessel wall is high.
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is also used to manage heart failure in adult patients when ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme) inhibitors and Minerolocorticoid receptor antagonists (medicines used to manage heart failure) are not recommended for use to manage heart failure conditions.
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Candesartan. It is also not recommended for use in patients suffering from severe liver disease/biliary obstruction, and/or impaired kidney function.
Before taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have/had vomiting, severe diarrhoea, low blood pressure, stroke, intolerance to certain sugars (such as lactose), heart problems, and/or other liver/kidney problems.
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy since it may cause harm to the unborn baby. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in children (aged below 1-year) since it may become a risk to the developing kidneys and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET are feeling dizzy/spinning sensation, headache, respiratory infection (associated with symptoms such as sore throat, cough/sneezing), and/or low blood pressure. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

How CANDOSA 4 TABLET Works
CANDOSA 4 TABLET works by blocking the action of angiotensin II hormone (chemical that cause narrowing of blood vessels) which cause relaxation and widening of blood vessel wall resulting in reduced pressure (on the blood vessel wall) and aiding heart to pump blood more smoothly to other parts of the body in affected individuals.
How to use CANDOSA 4 TABLET
Take CANDOSA 4 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of CANDOSA 4 TABLET
Common
- feeling dizzy/spinning sensation
- headache
- signs of respiratory infection such as cough, sneezing, sore throat, and/or headaches
- signs of low blood pressure such as feeling faint/dizzy
Rare
Stop taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of allergic reactions such as difficulty in breathing, swelling of face, lips, tongue/throat, and/or severe itching of the skin
How To Manage Side Effects
Headache:
If CANDOSA 4 TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy since it may cause harm to the unborn baby. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Breastfeeding
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive/operate any machines if you feel dizzy/tired after taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET since it may make you feel dizzy/faint. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Kidney
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with kidney problems such as impaired kidney function. It should be used with caution in patients suffering from other kidney problems or in patients who recently undergone dialysis or kidney transplantation. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Liver
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from severe liver disease/biliary obstruction. It should be used with caution in patients with other liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Allergy
Do not take CANDOSA 4 TABLET if you are allergic to Candesartan, and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
CANDOSA 4 TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems. Consult your doctor before taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET.
Others
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have diabetes
Before taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- are vomiting, and/or recently had severe vomiting/diarrhoea
- suffering from Conn’s syndrome (rare condition that occurs due to overproduction of aldosterone hormone)
- have low blood pressure
- have/had stroke
- are intolerant to certain sugars such as lactose
Use in Paediatrics:
CANDOSA 4 TABLET is not recommended for use in children (aged below 1-year) since it may become a potential risk to the developing kidneys in child. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Use in Geriatrics:
CANDOSA 4 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years/above). Contact your doctor before taking the medicine.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking CANDOSA 4 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicines used to lower blood pressure such as diuretics (indapamide, chlortalidone), beta-blockers (Ex. acebutolol, atenolol), ACE inhibitors (Ex. enalapril, captopril, lisinopril, ramipril), diazoxide, aliskiren
- mineralocorticoid receptors antagonists (medicines used to manage heart failure) Ex. eplerenone, spironolactone
- NSAIDs (used to reduce pain and inflammation) Ex. ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen, celecoxib, etoricoxib, acetylsalicylic acid
- potassium supplements/potassium containing salt substitutes (used to increase potassium level)
- heparin (used as a blood thinner)
- lithium (used to manage mood disorders)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of CANDOSA 4 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital to manage overdose symptoms.
