What ZUVISTON 10 is used for?
ZUVISTON 10 is a hormonal therapy used to treat progesterone deficiency states. It can relieve menstrual pain and can treat symptoms of endometriosis and premenstrual syndrome. It can also be used to treat infertility problems and irregular periods in women. It can be used in postmenopausal women to treat signs of menopause when used in combination with estrogens.
How to take ZUVISTON 10?
Take ZUVISTON 10 as advised by your physician. Swallow ZUVISTON 10 with a glass of water and do not chew or crush the medicine. Try to take ZUVISTON 10 at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without food. Do not miss any dose of ZUVISTON 10 in between the therapy, as it may reduce its effectiveness.
What are the side effects of ZUVISTON 10?
The most common side effects of taking ZUVISTON 10 are severe headache, nausea, breast pain or tenderness and painful, heavy, or irregular periods. Consult your doctor if any of these side effect worsens. Also, inform your doctor if you experience any changes in your breast such as breast pain, tenderness, discharge from the nipple, or lump growth in the breasts, heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, swelling, redness of the legs, sudden chest pain or difficulty in breathing after taking ZUVISTON 10.
Can I stop taking ZUVISTON 10 once my symptoms subside?
No. Do not stop taking ZUVISTON 10 unless your doctor advises you to stop, because sudden termination of ZUVISTON 10 will not provide an expected result. Continue to take ZUVISTON 10 as advised by your doctor to achieve maximum benefits.
Can ZUVISTON 10 cause cancer?
Yes. Current studies have shown that prolonged use of ZUVISTON 10 may lead to breast cancer or uterine cancer. To avoid this, your doctor will constantly monitor your health condition through periodic blood tests and ultrasounds (breast examination and cervical smear tests). However, inform your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual symptoms such as severe breast pain or tenderness, purplish discoloration of breasts, discharge from nipples, pelvic pain or abnormal vaginal bleeding.
How long do we bleed while taking ZUVISTON 10?
Nearly 75-90% of women experience bleeding up to 5 days while undergoing therapy with ZUVISTON 10. Bleeding usually starts at the last day of the monthly course or may happen in between the cycle as well. However, consult your doctor if you’re bleeding or spotting appears after some time on therapy, or continue to happen even after stop taking ZUVISTON 10.
What happens if I forget to take ZUVISTON 10?
If you forget to take a dose of ZUVISTON 10 and if it is less than 12 years since you forgot, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is more than 12 hours or time for next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose of ZUVISTON 10 at regular time. Do not take a double dose of ZUVISTON 10 to compensate the missed dose.
Is ZUVISTON 10 safe to use in children?
ZUVISTON 10 should be used in post pubertal female children (aged between 12-18 years) only if prescribed by the physician. It is not intended for use in male children or in female children who have not attained puberty. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
