ZELIS 5MG contains Lisinopril which belongs to a group of medicines called Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. ACE inhibitors lowers blood pressure by widening blood vessels which allows the blood to flow more easily and reduces the effort needed to pump blood around the body. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, kidney problems in diabetic patients with high blood pressure and also used if you have recently had a heart attack (myocardial infarction).
Lisinopril is long-acting angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. ACE is a peptidyl dipeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to the vasoconstrictor substance, angiotensin II. Angiotensin II also stimulates aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex. The inhibition of ACE results in reducing stress on the heart and relaxes blood vessel so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
Always take this ZELIS 5MG exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. It is not suitable for use in children below 6 years of age. The common side effects are dizziness, headache, cough, diarrhoea and vomiting.
