ZAVAMET 50/500MG is used to treat type 2 diabetes (also known as non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus) in adult patients, whose diabetes cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone and/or with other medicines used to treat diabetes (insulin or sulphonylureas such as glimepiride, glipizide).
Can ZAVAMET 50/500MG be used in elderly patients?
ZAVAMET 50/500MG should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age, especially in patients with impaired kidney function. Your doctor will adjust the dose depending upon kidney function and your kidney function will be monitored regularly. Consult with your doctor before taking ZAVAMET 50/500MG.
Is ZAVAMET 50/500MG safe to use in patients with heart problems?
ZAVAMET 50/500MG is not recommended in patients who recently had heart attack or heart failure or any signs of heart problems such as serious problems with blood circulation or difficulty in breathing. Consult your doctor before taking ZAVAMET 50/500MG.
What are the most common side effects of taking ZAVAMET 50/500MG?
The most common side effects of taking ZAVAMET 50/500MG are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, metallic taste, uncontrolled trembling, low blood sugar and diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
Can I consume alcohol while taking ZAVAMET 50/500MG?
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with ZAVAMET 50/500MG since it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Consult your doctor before taking ZAVAMET 50/500MG if you are alcoholic or with history of alcoholism.
