INTRODUCTION

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET contains Voglibose which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-diabetics. It is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and exercise to improve post-prandial blood glucose levels (when only diet and/or exercise or oral hypoglycemic drugs or insulin preparation in addition to diet and/or exercise does not result in adequate glycemic control).

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic medical condition in which the body does not make enough insulin, or the produced insulin does not work well. Symptoms include excessive urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision.    

Along treatment with VOGO 0.2MG TABLET follow regular exercise and diet plan as advised by your doctor to achieve better results. 

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having severe ketosis, in a state of diabetic coma or pre-coma, severe infection, before and after an operation or with serious trauma and gastrointestinal obstruction.

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients undergoing abdominal laparotomy for gallstone ileus or have roemheld’s syndrome, stenosis, liver, and kidney problems, and in elderly patients.

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET is not recommended for use among pregnant, breastfeeding women, children, and adolescents.

The most common side effects of taking VOGO 0.2MG TABLET are soft stools or diarrhea, flatulence, bloating, abdominal pain or discomfort, abdominal fullness, and nausea. Contact your doctor if any of the above symptoms worsen.

USES OF VOGO 0.2MG TABLET

  • Treats type 2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and exercise

HOW VOGO 0.2MG TABLET WORKS

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET works by inhibiting the intestinal enzymes that are responsible for breaking complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. This prevents the level of blood glucose from increasing very high immediately after meals.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take VOGO 0.2MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Your physician will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF VOGO 0.2MG TABLET

COMMON

  • soft stools or diarrhea
  • flatulence
  • abdominal pain or discomfort
  • nausea

RARE

  • headache
  • anemia
  • signs of low platelet levels (easy bleeding or bruising)
  • signs of low white blood cells (repeated infections)
  • numbness
  • edema of the face
  • blurred vision
  • hot flushes
  • general discomfort
  • weakness
  • signs of high potassium levels in blood (irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, chest pain)
  • excessive sweating
  • hair loss

Stop taking VOGO 0.2MG TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of hypersensitivity reactions (severe skin rash with itching)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea:

Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil-rich or spicy foods. In case of no improvement, consult your doctor.

Flatulence:

Eat smaller and frequent meals. Slowly eat and drink, and exercise regularly. If the symptom does not improve, contact your physician.

Diarrhea:

Drink more fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own without consulting your physician.

Stomach pain:

Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your physician.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may passes through breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

KIDNEY

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take VOGO 0.2MG TABLET if you are allergic to Voglibose or to any ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

  • severe ketosis
  • diabetic coma or pre-coma
  • severe infection, after and before an operation
  • serious trauma
  • gastrointestinal obstruction

Before taking VOGO 0.2MG TABLET, inform your physician if you:

  • undergoing abdominal laparotomy for gallstone ileus
  • have roemheld’s syndrome (cluster of cardiovascular symptoms stimulated by gastrointestinal changes)
  • have stenosis (condition in which there is an abnormal narrowing in a blood vessel or other tubular organ or structure such as foramina and canals)

Use in pediatrics:

The safety of VOGO 0.2MG TABLET in children has not been established (no clinical experience). Consult your physician before taking VOGO 0.2MG TABLET.

Use in geriatrics:

VOGO 0.2MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your physician before taking VOGO 0.2MG TABLET.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking VOGO 0.2MG TABLET, inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • other antidiabetic drugs (Ex. glipizide, tolbutamide, insulin) (used to treat diabetes)
  • medicines used to treat heart problems (Ex. metoprolol, atenolol)
  • medicine used to treat skin infection (Ex. salicylic acid)
  • medicines used to treat depression (Ex. phenelzine, selegiline)
  • medicine used to treat cholesterol (Ex. fenofibrate)
  • epinephrine (medicine used to treat anaphylaxis reactions)
  • adrenocorticotrophin (medicine used to treat disorders of the pituitary or adrenal glands like Cushing’s syndrome)
  • thyroxine (medicine used to treat thyroid problems)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of VOGO 0.2MG TABLET, consult your physician immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The symptoms of overdosage are low blood sugar levels, abdominal discomfort and diarrhea.
