INTRODUCTION

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET contains Voglibose which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-diabetics. It is used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and exercise to improve post-prandial blood glucose levels (when only diet and/or exercise or oral hypoglycemic drugs or insulin preparation in addition to diet and/or exercise does not result in adequate glycemic control).

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic medical condition in which the body does not make enough insulin, or the produced insulin does not work well. Symptoms include excessive urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision.

Along management with VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET follow regular exercise and diet plan as advised by your doctor to achieve better results.

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having severe ketosis, in a state of diabetic coma or pre-coma, severe infection, before and after an operation, or with serious trauma and gastrointestinal obstruction.

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET should be used with caution in patients undergoing abdominal laparotomy for gallstone ileus or have roemheld’s syndrome, stenosis, liver, and kidney problems and in elderly patients.

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET is not recommended for use among pregnant, breastfeeding women, children, and adolescents.

The most common side effects of taking VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET are soft stools or diarrhea, flatulence, bloating, abdominal pain or discomfort, abdominal fullness, and nausea. Contact your doctor if any of the above symptoms worsen.

USES OF VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET

  • Manage type 2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and exercise

HOW VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET WORKS

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET works by inhibiting the intestinal enzymes that are responsible for breaking complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. This prevents the level of blood glucose from increasing very high immediately after meals.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET as advised by your physician.

For Tablet: Swallow VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned on the label or as directed by the doctor. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.

SIDE EFFECTS OF VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET

COMMON

  • soft stools or diarrhea
  • flatulence

  • headache
  • anemia
  • signs of low platelet levels (easy bleeding or bruising)
  • signs of low white blood cells (repeated infections)

  • signs of high potassium levels in blood (irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, chest pain)
  • excessive sweating

Stop taking VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • signs of hypersensitivity reactions (severe skin rash with itching)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Bloating

Eat smaller and frequent meals. Slowly eat and drink, and exercise regularly. If the symptom does not improve, contact your physician.

Diarrhea

Drink more fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own without consulting your physician.

Nausea And Vomiting

Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil-rich or spicy foods. In case of no improvement, consult your doctor.

Stomach Pain

Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your physician.

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING
Contraindicated

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may passes through breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

KIDNEY
Use with Caution

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
Use with Caution

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Contraindicated

Do not take VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET if you are allergic to Voglibose or to any ingredients of this medicine.

USE IN PEDIATRICS

USE IN GERIATRICS
Use with Caution

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your physician before taking VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET.

OTHERS

VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

  • severe ketosis
  • diabetic coma or pre-coma
  • severe infection, after and before an operation
  • serious trauma
  • gastrointestinal obstruction

Before taking VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET, inform your physician if you:

  • undergoing abdominal laparotomy for gallstone ileus
  • have roemheld’s syndrome (cluster of cardiovascular symptoms stimulated by gastrointestinal changes)
  • have stenosis (condition in which there is an abnormal narrowing in a blood vessel or other tubular organ or structure such as foramina and canals)

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET, inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • other antidiabetic drugs (Ex. glipizide, tolbutamide, insulin) (used to treat diabetes)
  • medicines used to treat heart problems (Ex. metoprolol, atenolol)
  • medicine used to treat skin infection (Ex. salicylic acid)
  • medicines used to treat depression (Ex. phenelzine, selegiline)
  • medicine used to treat cholesterol (Ex. fenofibrate)
  • epinephrine (medicine used to treat anaphylaxis reactions)
  • adrenocorticotrophin (medicine used to treat disorders of the pituitary or adrenal glands like Cushing’s syndrome)
  • thyroxine (medicine used to treat thyroid problems)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of VOGLIZAR 0.3 TABLET, consult your physician immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The symptoms of overdosage are low blood sugar levels, abdominal discomfort and diarrhea.
