VILAZINE 40MG TABLET contains Vilazodone which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidepressants. It is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder.
Depression is a mood disorder that causes a constant feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It affects the way you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems.
Before taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have family history of mental diseases (suicide, depression, bipolar disorder, mania or hypomania), bleeding disorder, seizures, glaucoma (increased pressure in your eyes), low levels of sodium in your blood or if you drink alcohol.
Some serious side effects of VILAZINE 40MG TABLET includes suicidal thoughts. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any such thoughts.
VILAZINE 40MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant, breast-feeding women and elders above 65 years of age. VILAZINE 40MG TABLET is not recommended in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. Consult with your doctor before taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET.
The most common symptoms of VILAZINE 40MG TABLET are trouble sleeping, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Check with your doctor if the symptoms get worse.
VILAZINE 40MG TABLET works by inhibiting the reuptake of a brain chemical called serotonin, thus, increasing the level of serotonin which helps in regulating the mood. Thus, helps in the symptomatic relief of depressive disorder.
Take VILAZINE 40MG TABLET as advised by your doctor. VILAZINE 40MG TABLET should be swallowed along with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the proper dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET and consult with your doctor, if you experience any of the following:
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. Ask for your doctor’s advice if diarrhoea doesn’t improve.
Nausea:
Take this medicine with or after meals. Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Do not take any medication on your own. Ask for your doctor’s advice if nausea doesn’t improve.
Vomiting:
Drink clear or ice-cold drinks. Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, oily or sweet foods. Avoid carbonated drinks. Ask for your doctor’s advice if vomiting doesn’t improve.
VILAZINE 40MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby before taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET.
VILAZINE 40MG TABLET should be used with caution in breast feeding women as it is not known if it passes through breast milk. Consult with your doctor before taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET.
Do not take VILAZINE 40MG TABLET if you feel sleepy or reduced ability to think clearly, make decisions or react quickly after taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET.
Avoid the consumption of alcohol while taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET.
Do not take VILAZINE 40MG TABLET if you are allergic to Vilazodone or any other ingredients of this medicine.

VILAZINE 40MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Check with your child’s doctor before giving VILAZINE 40MG TABLET to your child.

VILAZINE 40MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. Inform and check with your doctor before taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET.

Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of VILAZINE 40MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage include serotonin syndrome (agitation, confusion, fast heartbeat, dizziness, flushing, tremors, stiff muscles or muscle twitching, seizures, seeing or hearing things that are not real (hallucinations), coma. blood pressure changes, sweating, high body temperature, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea), lethargy, restlessness, hallucinations and disorientation.

Ask for your doctor’s advice if you wish to discontinue taking VILAZINE 40MG TABLET.
