What VELFU D is used for?

  • It is used to relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate
  • Used to improve urination in men with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (Enlarged Prostate)

Talk to your doctor before taking VELFU D, if you:

  • are allergic to Alfuzosin, Dutasteride or to any of the other ingredients
  • are elderly
  • have hypertension
  • have coronary insufficiency
  • have angina 
  • have kidney or liver problems
  • Consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant, breast feeding, or planning to become pregnant

  • This medicine may cause dizziness and affect ability to drive or operate machinery

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines such as 

  •  other alpha-blockers such as doxazosin, indoramin, prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin, or phenoxybenzamine
  •  ketoconazole or itraconazole medicine used to treat fungal infections
  •  ritonavir medicine used to treat viral infection
  •  glyceryl trinitrate medicine used to treat chest pain  
  •  nefazodone (an antidepressant)
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Swallow this medicine whole with  a glass of water
  • Do not break or crush the medicine

 If you take more VELFU D

  • If you have taken a lot more medicines than you should, speak to your doctor straightaway

If you forget to take VELFU D

  • If you miss a dose take it as soon as possible.Do not double the dose

If you stop taking VELFU D

  • Do not stop taking this medication until your doctor instructs you to

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • drowsiness, vomiting
  • postural hypotension
  • syncope, asthenia
  • depression
  • headache
  • dry mouth or GI disturbances
  • oedema
  • blurred vision
  • rhinitis
  • erectile disorders
  • flushes
  • chest pain
  • palpitation, tachycardia
  • dizziness, lack of energy
  • hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash (which can be itchy), hives (like a nettle rash)
  • swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, arms or legs
  • not able to achieve or maintain an erection (impotence)
  • breast enlargement or tenderness (gynecomastia)
  • heart failure
  • hair loss (usually from the body) or hair growth.
  • pain and swelling in your testicles
  • water retention (may cause swollen arms of legs)
