VAPAL 150MG contain levamisole which belongs to a group of medicine called immune-modulating agents. It is used to treat Steroid Sensitive Nephrotic Syndrome (SSNS). It is used during and following a therapy with prednisone or prednisolone.
Steroid Sensitive Nephrotic Syndrome is a rare primary glomerulopathy of unknown cause characterized by edema, nephrotic-range proteinuria and hypoalbuminemia that responds to standard prednisone treatment within 4-6 weeks.
The common side effects are nervousness, sleepiness, depression, nausea, vomiting, reduced appetite, diarrhoea, constipation, inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) (symptoms such as stomach pain), skin rash and inflammation, malformations of the skin such as red swollen spots, muscle and joint pain, inflammation of the mouth, change to your odour.
VAPAL 150MG works by restoring depressed immune function rather than to stimulate response to above-normal levels. This medicine can be taken with some water or, if necessary, with custard or any appropriate liquid.
Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

Always take VAPAL 150MG exactly as your doctor has told you. VAPAL 150MG can be taken with or without food. Try to take this medicine at the same time each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Sleepiness:
Get up and move around to feel awake. Take a nap to take the edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid weakness.
Nausea and vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluid such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines without talking to a doctor.
Constipation:
Take fibre rich foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals, and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. You can eat and drink slowly or have smaller and frequent meals. Applying heat pad or covered hot water bottle on your stomach. If still pain persists, speak to your doctor.
VAPAL 150MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
VAPAL 150MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with VAPAL 150MG.
VAPAL 150MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

Do not take VAPAL 150MG if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to levamisole or any other ingredients in this medicine.
