What UROTEL XL is used for?

UROTEL XL is a prescription medicine for adults used to treat the following symptoms due to a condition called overactive bladder:

  • having a strong need to urinate with leaking or wetting incidents (urge urinary incontinence)
  • having a strong need to urinate right away (urgency)
  • having to urinate often (frequency)

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • have any stomach or intestinal problems
  • have trouble emptying your bladder or you have a weak urine stream
  • have liver problems
  • have kidney problems
  • have a condition called myasthenia gravis
  • or any of your family members have a rare heart condition called QT prolongation
  • have trouble emptying your bladder (also called "urinary retention")
  • have stomach empties slowly (also called "gastric retention")
  • have an eye problem called "uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma"
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding
  • UROTEL XL is not recommended for children
  • UROTEL XL can cause blurred vision, dizziness and drowsiness
  • Do not drive, operate machinery, until you know how UROTEL XL affects you

Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

  • Fesoterodine used to treat overactive bladder
  • Ketoconazole, itraconazole, miconazole used for fungal infections
  • Clarithromycin used for bacterial infections
  • Ritonavir, saquinavir, atazanavir used for treatment of HIV infection
  • Cyclosporine, vinblastine used to treat cancer
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • Take it once a day, the same time each day
  • Swallow the whole with a glass of water
  • UROTEL XL can be taken with or without food

If you take more UROTEL XL

  • If you take more UROTEL XL, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take UROTEL XL

  • If you miss a dose of UROTEL XL, begin taking UROTEL XL again the next day. Do not take 2 doses of UROTEL XL in the same day

If you stop taking UROTEL XL

  • Always consult your doctor if you are thinking of stopping the treatment

What is overactive bladder?

  • Overactive bladder happens when you cannot control your bladder muscle
  • When the muscle contracts too often or cannot be controlled, you get symptoms of overactive bladder, which are leakage of urine (urge urinary incontinence), needing to urinate right away (urgency), and needing to urinate often (frequency)
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
