TRUPRED contains Prednisolone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is also used to reduce redness, irritation, burning sensation, and swelling of the eye that occurs due to chemicals, heat, radiation, allergy, and/or foreign objects in the eye.
TRUPRED is not recommended for use in patients with tuberculosis of the eye and previous history of herpes simplex infection. Consult your doctor if you experience any unusual effects due to use of this medicine.
TRUPRED works by blocking the production of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (immune cells responsible for inflammation and allergic reaction) which results in preventing and treating the occurrence of inflammatory and allergic reaction of the eyes in affected individuals.
Always apply TRUPRED as directed by your doctor. It is for ophthalmic use only. Shake the bottle well before each use. Wash your hands and tilt your head backwards and gently pull the lower eyelid down to form a small pocket. Turn the bottle upside down and squeeze gently to release one or two drops in the affected eye. Avoid eye injury and contamination by placing the tip not too close to the eye.
