TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION contains Travoprost which belongs to the group of medicines called Prostaglandin analogues. It is indicated in the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a group of diseases characterized by gradual damage to your optic nerve (nerve that carry visual messages), that may result in loss of vision. Ocular hypertension is when the pressure in your eyes is more than the normal range, with no distinguishable changes in vision or damage to the structure of your eyes.
Prior to the treatment, your doctor may want you to take certain eye tests to understand your existing condition.
Before using TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart disease, eye inflammation, had a cataract surgery, or wear soft contact lenses.
TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION is not recommended for use pregnant and breastfeeding women. TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION is not recommended for use in children younger than 2 months of age, therefore consult your doctor before using it.
The most common side effects are eye redness, pain, discomfort, irritation, changes in the colour of the eye, dry or itchy eye. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.
TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION belongs to prostaglandin analogue which works by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor, thereby lowering the increased eye pressure.
Use TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Stop taking TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before using it. If you become pregnant you must use adequate contraception while using TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION.
TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women as it may get into breast milk. Consult your doctor before using it.
Do not drive or use any machines after using TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION if your sight becomes blurred.
Do not use TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION if you are allergic to Travoprost or to any other ingredients of this medicine.
TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION should be used with caution in patients having asthma. Consult your doctor before using it.

Yes. Dry eyes is a common side effect of TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION. Consult your doctor if it worsens.
What if TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION accidentally touches my skin?
TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION may be absorbed through the skin. If it touches your skin, it should be washed off immediately, especially in pregnant women or those attempting to become pregnant. Consult your doctor if any skin reactions occur.
How can I use TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION if I wear contact lenses?
Ask your physician regarding use of TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION with contact lenses. If you wear soft contact lenses, do not use the medicine with your lenses in. After using it, wait 15 minutes before putting your lenses back in.
What if I forget to use a dose of TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION?
If you forget to use a dose of TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION, use it as soon as you remember and then continue your treatment as usual. Do not use the medicine twice to make up for the forgotten dose.
How do I use TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION?
Wash your hands before using TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION. Hold the medicine while pointing it down and tilt your head back. Slowly pull down the lower eyelid to make a pocket. Gently squeeze the bottle to release a drop in your eye. Keep the eyelid closed, gently press a finger into the corner of the eye, by the nose for at least 1 minute, to stop the medicine from getting into the rest of your body.
Can I use TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION with other eye preparations?
Ask your doctor before using any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription or any herbal medicine with TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION.
Can I stop using TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION?
TRAVATAN OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION should be used as advised by the physician to work properly. If you stop using it, the pressure inside your eye may rise which may lead to loss of vision, therefore consult your doctor before stopping this treatment.
